Very nice sabre! Be gentle with the bluing but John seems to be able to match stuff.
Another candidate for Logan?
Me? I would sort out the wire a bit and nourish with Pecards, gentle cleaning on the blade.
Cheers GC

Cheers GC Ah I would love to have John fix it up, but hes backed up with a bunch of projects right now because of COVID ect, and plus this one is in Germany the shipping alone would add up a few hundred bucks. I think Ill just gently clean it up like you said and wait until I go back to the states to send it to him, or maybe just clean it and keep as is.

Yes, congratulations calien. Very nice and with a beautiful scabbard.
I would like to know what Edelweiss means with ,, matching stuff''. I know the French have this habit to restore blue and gild on the upper market sabres, as they do with antiquarian books. Strip them, wash the pages, restore the binding and sewing it all up again. So, if there is a way to touch up blue without heating the blade up to 350 - 375 C, I would like to know. Magic markers do not work......

Hes not quite there yet, but hes found a formula with non toxic ingredients. Im not exactly sure how he does it but he is trying to perfect it.
