This looks like a really good closeout deal that has been offered for a few months from Smokey Mountain Knife Works, Knife Center, Knife Country USA and a few others. Seems the problem was the price was way high, particularly with a so so sheath, but that may well be rectified at under $90. I called CRKT and they confirmed that the knife was in fact made by TOPS with differential heat treat and micarta scales, a partial explanation for the initial nose bleed price placing and subsequent lack of sales. I also like the CRKT Rune Tactical Axe at under $40 closeout with a sweet sheath.

I think it's a tough market for knives such as these and certainly kind of a rough go at its original msrp.
The pretty grind is kind of hiding in the powder coat and most will lump it in with the machetes that are thinner stock.
Then reality sets in and the discussion/debate on survival gear. I don't see recurves as a great do all and this looks to "punch above its weight" while at the same time being awkward for other chores throughout a camping day. I still have my no saw back BMF for the 9" do-all role and sharpens more easily without the recurve.
It reminds me of a Bark River design.
Thanks for the other link.
