I'd say it is a real antique. Unfortunately my knowledge of these is bit limited. From the quality and details this looks like pretty average one to my eye. I think some folks might be able to identify some regional/period info on the details of the sword.

Looks legit to me, though my knowledge isn't any greater than Jussi's. I do own one yataghan, myself, which is similar to this one but not as decorated. I'd be curious to know if this one might have some pattern in the steel, be it twisted, ribbon, or even wootz. Pretty sure mine is a plain steel, but I'm also pretty sure mine was excessively ground at some point, probably in an effort to "clean it up" but losing a lot of the features. It has very faded fullers, for instance.
