Does anyone know a reputed bow maker? I like recurve and longbows both. Looking for a traditional style bow for hunting.

Scorpion Swords and Knives use to make them but not sure if they still do. Seem to remember they stopped due to time constraints. Look at the Other Weapons board on this forum and there is an archery sub- board. Someone could point you in the right direction. Good luck.

I have a Rudderbow bamboo-backed hickory longbow that I like quite a bit, but Rudderbow is no longer operated by the original owners. Their brand was purchased by these people: grayvn.com/pages/rudderbowsI have no experience with Grayvn.

When I was learning how to make bows, I took several workshops with a guy named Bill Darr. He makes some pretty incredible stuff. You can take a look and find contact information here: www.whipperwilarchery.com/.

There's always the longbow shop in the UK. They are good to deal with, and happy to post around the world.

I promise I'm not trying to push Bill's services on to anyone. I just recall thinking this was pretty cool when I learned it a number of years ago. Thought I would mention it. You can see the actual bow here: www.hankreinhardt.com/Sale/Bows/bows%20395.htm.

I would suggest Alibow. They are good makers of fiber glass and laminated bows. It is a good place to start in learning how to use archery. Here is a link: www.alibowshop.com/

I have not tried any Grayvn bows, but have spoke with him several time over the phone and have looked, not tested, his work, but kn ow of people who have and trust they are good makers. That is why we are now carrying their bows on our site. I like the traditional English Longbow and will get one myself. Clyde Hollis Kingdom of Arms www,kingdomofarms.com
