Hello everyone,
I'm actually looking for a scabbard, because even if the white Albion box reminds me good memories, I'd really like to find a sweet home for my sword.
But the problems are prices. I know that scabbards like those of DBK and Fletcher are real Opera d'arte, but it's too expensive for me. If I say to my wife I'm gonna buy a scabbard more expensive than the already extra expensive sword I've bought she's gonna become crazy héhé.
So do you know some options around 500/600 Euros or even less if possible ? The best prices options I've already found are at Tod's workshop (520 livres sterling /560 euros) but if you know other address, I'm interested !
Thank you, and I wish you all a good weekend !
Ugo

Ugo The money is one thing, and you will get what you pay for, and the wait times are the other...Also dont forget that unless you use DBK or Christian Fletcher who have patterns for many of the Albion swords already so they can make your scabbard without the sword, you will also have the added cost of sending your sword to and back from the scabbard maker. I have scabbards made by Christina Fletcher, Eric McHugh and have a DBK on order. I also have a scabbard and sword by Mateusz Sulwoski ( sulowskiswords.com/swords/)who is located in the EU/Poland. As far as I know, he only makes scabbards for his own swords but it might be worth asking him or one of the other two quality sword smiths in Poland (see below) if they would do just a scabbard for your sword. They are in the EU and from what I can see their higher end scabbards are about 700 euros of the 1900 euro coast of a sword with scabbard. You might get a more basic but quality scabbard within your price range. artofswordmaking.com/ Maciej Kopciuch historicalswordszone.com/ Damian Sulwoski

I was in your position for years as I had no idea how to make my own scabbard. If you are willing to try it is worth it to make your own. YouTube has good tutorials on carving 1/4 inch poplar to make wood core. I managed to make one for my Pavel Moc longsword which has a 40 inch blade. I used a 4x36 inch belt sander to create the hollow cavity for the sword blade to sit in and round off the outside of the wood core. I also used a bandsaw to cut the rough shape of the wood.I used a series of rasps and wood chisels to finish the inside by hand. Once it's all glued tape four pages of paper together and use that to create a template for the leather. Even after getting the tools and supplies you will most likely spend a lot less money than you would have for some one else to make it. Plus once you got the tools you can make more scabbard for the future.

Yes, thank you for the feedback, I've recently saw some scabbards making tutorials (Made by Everything Medieval in my case) and it really made me want to try ... Once the confinement is over I will buy the materials and try it !

You're welcome, I'm actually making another scabbard now. I did want to add that if you did want to pay someone else to do it I found this website recently.
I have friends that bought swords from HEMAsupplies and were happy. Their wood core scabbards are inexpensive compared to other makers. I still think it's worth trying it yourself but if you do want someone to make it for you, don't spend more than you have to. Under their custom page you can just give them extremely detailed measurements of your sword and they will make it to fit that way.
