I recently acquired my first real sword - a Hanwei jian (the SH2008 practical tai chi model). It's nice, but I want to customise it by fitting a custom made handle (made from some bog oak from near to my birth place). However, I'm having difficulty with the end nut. It's an octagonal nut, and is recessed within the arch of the pommel (pic below). This makes access to it really difficult. I've tried combination wrenches, and none of them will fit in the pommel to get a grip on the nut. I've looked up various youtube videos and posts of other folks who have disassembled their Hanweis, but none that I've found make reference to how this was achieved (only that the nut was very securely fastened). So, I'm anticipating having to use a reasonable amount of force to unscrew the nut (and I've also heard that heating the nut can help), but I first need to figure out what tool would actually allow me to get sufficient purchase to do so. Anyone have any ideas about tools or techniques? Any advice or thoughts very much appreciated.
(Still trying to figure out how to embed the image to the post - here's a link in the meantime.)

Your photo link works fine. No positive suggestions though other than modifying an open end wrench but I'm sure someone will come up with something better.

If I remember correctly, in addition to smashing the handle open with an ice cream scoop, I also used a blowdryer and the pliers on my Leatherman.
