After seeing a lot of memes and fanart, watching Sabaton's "Bismarck" music video, and trying out World of Warships on my Xbox, I decided to download Azur Lane on my phone since it was popular. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the historical references in it, such as Enterprise being a lucky ship and one of the strongest aircraft carriers in-game or Arizona having a solemn expression and looking like she's about to cry all the time ("Tears of Arizona" or the oil still leaking at Pearl Harbor to this day.) Gameplay is similar to bullet hell games like Touhou but with an RPG element such as leveling up and enhancing your ship-girls, and equipping them with gear (like the 203mm/8 inch guns for heavy cruisers or fighter and bomber planes for carriers.)
The four main factions are Eagle Union, Royal Navy, Sakura Empire, and Iron Blood. I think it's pretty obvious which nations they represent just by looking at the names. Of course, full Nazi symbology appears nowhere on the Iron Blood designs and instead use the Iron Cross.
I'm enjoying it so far, especially since I can't do anything else for entertainment right now since Hawaii is under lockdown except for essential businesses and workers like what I do.

I've been thinking about downloading that on my phone. I'm a fan of anime and history, so I think I'd enjoy it.

My girlfriend has been "raising [her] boat waifus" for a while now, but it's recently taken a back seat to some other, newer mobile games. I'm not a gamer, never mind mobile, but the anime was interesting.

Azur Lane is definitely more beginner friendly compared to other mobile games that I'm currently playing. I've also seen the anime before I started the game. I felt like the adaptation wasn't very good but still kind of interesting (Enterprise hitching rides on her SBD Dauntless planes lol) so I decided to try the game if the characterization was any different than what I initially perceived.
Right now my strongest frontliners are USS Portland heavy cruiser and KMS Z23 destroyer. My backline switches among HMS Nelson or USS Pennsylvania battleships, and USS Saratoga or Ranger for aircraft carriers. I also have Northern Parliament (Russia) fleet from a recent event but they aren't leveled up yet.
