My new/preowned knife. Made by a smith named Mike Wesolowski in the early to mid 1970's it is a Searles style Bowie knife. Curiously, it's not sharp even though the bevel for an edge has been ground in. Stag grip, steel is of unknown composition as are the fittings Overall Length: 14 inches Blade Length: 9 inches Blade depth: 1 1/2 inches Blade Thickness: 1/4 inch Point of Balance: 1/8th inch in front of the guard Weight: 14.3 ounces on my mail scale My favorite feature is the upper part of the blade being faceted. There's some shmutz forming on the steel, I'm not sure what to do about that yet

Beautiful knife! It must be a beast with a 1/4" blade. Do you have any pics showing the spine of the blade?
I can't tell from your picture if that is a stain on the blade or a void in the steel. Do you plan on putting an edge on this Bowie?
Thanks for sharing!

I always liked this style of knife. Is the blade double-edged, or is the back more of a blunt swedge?
