A little update; growing FAST (check those paws...). He is also starting to try to dominate the big guy and to develop nasty behaviour... so snip-snap day is getting nearer for his little balls... Nevertheless, he is one of the lights in our lives here; the cats help a lot in dealing with that whole corona crap, our medical problems or - i hate to say so - malicious and hurtful forumites.

And I've dived with sharks in the sea. Poor sharks... slaughtered by the millions... You do know why and for whom....

Poor sharks... slaughtered by the millions... You do know why and for whom.... Yes, some of their eating habits or their "traditional" medicine are pretty much a absolute, big NO-GO in our time. But when it comes to meat or milk consume/production... we are no better. Not a bit. Pity for me and especially Holger stopping to eat meat is much harder than have quit smoking so many years ago.

"We" are not needlessly pushing numerous wild animal species to the brink of extinction...

What about all the plastic garbage WE dispose of that finds its way into the oceans, rivers, and lakes? WE ARE destroying countless species. Human beings wipe out entire species. I say this with no ethical or moral censure. It's just a statement of fact. You are part of the human race, you and I both contribute to the destruction of other animal species. We may not be slaughtering them to eat their fins the way that the Chinese do to sharks, but we make our own contributions towards the destruction of animal life.

I am certainly not debating those indirect attacks on the environment and nature but...I was referring to the very blatant direct annihilation of entire species...sharks, elephants, rhino are the most prominent that come to mind but "they" are like locusts with regard to consumption of wild animals. As for the plastics in the worlds oceans, "They" are very DIRECTLY destroying far more and with total disregard for the long term effects of their actions. When you look at the numbers, "They" are putting more plastics into the Wolds oceans more then the US and Europe combined. Put blame where it belongs please! As far as plastic in the oceans, again, "we" are not the problem but "they" are...and trying to spread the blame around to "everyone" just isn't intellectually honest or accurate. “If you are unable to understand the cause of a problem, it is impossible to solve it.” – Naoto Kan By analyzing the waste found in the rivers and surrounding landscape, researchers were able to estimate that just 10 river systems carry 90% of the plastic that ends up in the ocean.
Eight of them are in Asia: the Yangtze; Indus; Yellow; Hai He; Ganges; Pearl; Amur; Mekong; and two in Africa – the Nile and the Niger.
"We were able to demonstrate that there is a definite correlation in this respect," said Dr. Christian Schmidt, one of the authors of the study from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research. "The more waste there is in a catchment area that is not disposed of properly, the more plastic ultimately ends up in the river and takes this route to the sea."www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/06/90-of-plastic-polluting-our-oceans-comes-from-just-10-rivers/ www.marinelitterthefacts.com/sourcesI
