My dad likes cats a lot, I am more of a dog person but I don’t mind them at all I consider dogs to be my favourite animals, other than snakes, but really, I enjoy all animals, especially if it's possible to make a connection with it I actually like snakes as well which is ironic with me liking rodents but a nice fancy ball python is cool! Everything has its place in my mind

I'm sorry for your loss man!
I used to have pet rats, amazing animals. So smart! But they only lived about 2 years.
I think we got as attached as you would to a dog. They knew their names, would come when called.
A dumbo rat we had named Binks, she would ride in your pocket and stuff. I totally get it.
My daughter is 7 and wants to get guinea pigs! I think they live a bit longer.
Always wanted a chinchilla myself. A kid at our church brought one last Nov, really "chill" haha. Friendly, let everyone hold or pet it.

Look into hamsters man sugar gliders are cool as well. I appreciate it and recently got a baby girl hamster that we are currently raising

Just realized this is the first time I posted here. Man, I'm sorry. Losing one you care for is unfortunate. Even that sounds impartial, and I'm sorry for that. Animals die too quickly, and it's a reminder that when we take to caring for our mammal brethren we are doing not only them but ourselves a proper service. Best wishes to you and your departed friend. Take care.

(inside joke for Yardabaoth preference of ambush defensive tactics...ala Trapdoor spider).

I would want one but it wouldn't be properly taken care of by me 😂

I would want one but it wouldn't be properly taken care of by me 😂 In reality, to have one as a real pet would not be my cup of tea either (dogs & cats give more emotional response being a higher order organism). A friend of mine had a pet tarantula in a heated glass aquarium and fed it grasshoppers and the like. Snakes and fish are interesting as well but only as a kind of visual deal along with the aquarium setup, and I would not be real keen on feeding the snake...rodents that look much like the late Cosmo of this thread , but I suppose the "feeding" is part of the interest (brutal but necessary cycle of life, part of which is death).

Fun fact is hamsters are actually very unhealthy for snakes as they have lots of fat on them and it is like tons of fast food on the snakes body. Nice on the other hand are perfect

Heck, didn't humans (Homo Sapiens Sapiens) evolve from a rodent like creature that was scurrying under the feet of T-Rex while the asteroid was hurtling towards Earth around 165 million years ago.

More like large shrews than rodents, but something like that. Go back far enough and every living being is a cousin N times removed.

Just like humans didn't come from apes, only that our hominid ancestors may have been monkey/ape like.

I don’t buy the evolution theory and am a man of the Bible and creation myself but anyway all the domestic hamsters actually come from one family that was brought back by a sailor from the Sinai in the 1930’s. I am sure most pet hamsters are fatter than the wild ones as they get free food and water in abundance lol.

This is something a wild hamster will never get to do to this extent lol

I'm a believer in both the Bible (symbolically mostly but some literally...as it's all personal) and evolution (which simply means "change through time") as both coexist nicely for me, but it's a complicated and fascinating subject probably meant for another forum. Hamsters are from the Sinai...good to know.
