Also it is very dark and gritty. Magic is very different in that world, wizards are warlords not guidance councilors. It didn't have the epicness of LOTR though, imo. Really? The Dominator is very Sauron like, and able to bend just about anyone to his will. The Ten are also very much like the Nazgul. Maybe it's just me but the magic and villains in BC were just seemed much more sinister (outside of Sauron and Mordor). Could also be the way the world was much more bleak and helpless.

As an army vet, I adore the Black Company series. It does a good job of capturing the boredom and grit of military life. "Black Company"? Never heard of it... will try to find it in german. Who is the author, please?

Thank you. This looks good, yes? Subtitle means "Soulcatcher"; this to start with? I don't recognize the cover or title , tbh. "Soul Catcher" is one of the characters in the series though so I am assuming it might be a spin off or something on her specifically.

The first Harry Potter book was originally "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in the UK, and had the title changed to "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in the US, because we Americans are usually uneducated trash.

....................because we American's are usually uneducated trash. Careful now, you should have said, "Excepting present company.....".
BTW, there's no apostrophe in "Americans" as a plural noun.

But what is your take on Harry Potter? I'd prefer Paracelsus or Isaac Newton to H. K. Rowling as a reference on such matters.

Dandelion, google The Black Company book order. I just finished ‘Chronicles of the Black Company’ which includes the first three books. The Black Company, Shadows Linger and The White Rose. Looks like the second series is ‘Shadow Games’ and ‘Dreams of Steel’, the first and second Book of the South. Then ‘The Silver Spike’. Then another series, Books one thru four of Glittering Stone. They are ‘Bleak Seasons’, ‘She is the Darkness’, ‘Water Sleeps’ and ‘Soldiers Live’. If there are more I don’t know. First three were good. Enjoy

You are correct. Such are the perils of using one's phone to make a post. Autocorrect is a bit carp.

Also, Rowling is a transphobe, so I have nothing kind to say about her. Edit: I'll add that I am legitimately a big fan of Paracelsus (I'm also a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist), and love that he was so abrasive and off-putting that he was basically on the run from various authorities most of his adult life. Also, burning medical texts while attending a medical school in the early 16th century was a pretty baller move.
