Does this have to do with the new Coronavirus? I keep telling people it’s something to be aware of but it’s hardly an apocalyptic plague.

Just concerned....it too early to tell and I’m suspect of the information coming out from the government. The procedures they are implementing are unprecedented.

I have serious doubts about the exact validity of that story. It's well known that a good chunk of news services are partially owned by the Chinese government. They like to call vandals and opportunists protesters to make the entire movement look bad.

Rather a parodox while as I would not trust the vile, despised, evil Chicommie govt IN THE LEAST (millions of Christian & Muslim citizens put in camps), I also try to shy away from conspiracy theories and overreacting. We must be prudent and treat this as the potentially dangerous health emergency that it is while helping and praying for the good Chinese people. I think some of these (wet) markets that trade in wild animals (the most likely culprit for the outbreak) have been shut down and will not be allowed to reopen.

However, I think the derision and agreement on this forum is UNIVERSAL regarding them, so I gave my opinion as I believe nobody would be offended in this specific case.

Won't be long you'll have to go to Facebook just to get away from it. I agree very much with your sentiment, but in this case I can't imagine anyone being offended. It should be further noted that it's rather impossible to discuss the viral outbreak topic at all if one excludes talking about the ridiculous govt. responsibility for, not to mention the wild animal markets that are so poorly regulated.

Not saying I disagree with what you're saying, I certainly have no love for the Chinese government. The problem is you're opening a can of worms here. Some of the newer members might get the idea it's okay to talk about any government. When we have conversations about government regulations regarding swords that's one thing but to talk about governments in general that politics.

I hear ya Wolfy, but damn if you can't say a disparaging thing or two about THAT govt. Same as Nazi, Stalin Russia, etc..., and I think that in THIS specific case the newer members would get it, but if some of those members start down the hill you and I fear, I think that is where a problem may arise. Remember that the whole discussion of this outbreak would be rather impossible without pointing out the keystone cop govt. structure & response along with those wild animal markets. We all have to have some ability to communicate without worrying so much that we say nothing to each other, so in this case I bet NOBODY would be offended (imagine not too many Chinese who love their Communist govt. are on this forum ).

Hey, I probably one of the most anti-communist here...my wife’s family escaped them in Vietnam and my uncle was a prisoner of war in Korea for 5 years....
I’m just concerned about a forum member, and want to get “on the ground” info.
And the other thread got locked...so...

Hoping for the best for Lancelot....Does anyone know what part of china he lives in? To be honest, I think that assuming this is not something that escaped from a chinese gov bio-weapons lab (yeah the tinfoil hat people are suggesting that...) the chinese gov. appears to be doing much better this time around than the last time with SARS , at least from the outside looking in.
Looks like the stock markets are going to stabilize/rebound tomorrow morning which means its prob going to be well contained at this point.

The Mods usually cut us a little slack but if things keep going the way they have been lately they're going to tighten up on us a lot more. We've lost some members lately because of the Bad Behavior I would say heated debates about politics will make it worse.

They like to call vandals and opportunists protesters to make the entire movement look bad. That wasn't my point, and neither was I trying to raise political issues. What needs to be realized is that containment measures and any public reactions to them could complicate communications and transportation (including sword shipping) for a while yet. For one thing, the PRC government has extended the New Year's holidays for an extra week to keep people away from work.
I picked out the Hong Kong article because SBG has its headquarters there.

In fact, I imagine all of us would be rather happy knowing our students perform with such grace and spirit. Lancelot is a very lucky man to have such students as these. Great footage.

Hello. Thanks for the concern. I had injured my right hip since last Oct and that caused overloading on my right knee and left ankle. It put me on immobility for months. Left ankle and right hip kinda recovered but the right knee is still not working right, especially under the recent cold.
I've been hiding in low profile mode since last June because of the anti-communist protest. :) And Elrikk I'm on your side too.
As of the virus, it's VERY dangerous. Trust nothing the China news is showing. Hong Kong gov is literally welcoming the disease with open arms (in Cantonese, we call it with open legs as if inviting sex). They don't even charge the mainlanders with the disease with medical cost at all. While even China has "officially" stopped the customs, Hong Kong gov still welcome them. It's like HKGov is intentionally eating the semprini to express loyalty and to replace Hong Kong people. Yes it has always been their aim to kill us the native off and replace us with the mainlanders. HKGov has announced that the local medical system will NOT serve HK people at first priority (but tax us only).
Other than this, we've lost 2 longship swords to USPS, and I lost one silver necklace just before lunar new year, also broke my wristband's loop on the same day. My laundry shop handed me someone else's clothes so I have no clothes to wear during the whole lunar new year, and I don't know if they still keep my own bag of clothes at the shop. I'll only figure out on Thursday. My main worker's wife suffered miscarriage that caused our production late.
So yeah, I'm pretty much stuck with bad luck.
