Hello,
I've got a Dresden Rapier by Arms & Armor. Those who know this sword will know it's a massive beast - must closer to a cavalry broadsword with a rapier hilt.
When I got it there had been an attempt to sharpen it and, okay, it had an edge. To fix it I took it to a professional sharpener, the main guy in our city who has the business of sharpening the knives of the professional chefs in this foodie town of mine.
It came back wicked sharp. Sharper than this you don't want on a sword.
Anyway. I'm going to be offering it up for sale or trade (I have some swords in mind for which I'd trade it)...but I can't find what it should cost. The Arms & Armor website doesn't list it anymore.
It's in fine shape, no bends or blemishes...it's just sharper than teenage heartbreak. So, can someone here tell me how much I should ask for it?
Of course, I'm also open to trades but again, I have no idea what it's worth.
I've started a project to make a scabbard for it; got the chape a few days ago. What I don't have is time to make the scabbard, but I'm in no hurry. If I can't move it to the right person before the scabbard is done I'll include the scabbard later.
~ R.

pls read for comprehension and this time understand that I have no procreateing idea what price to post, that what the post is about. then your post is in the wrong section of the forum, ask a mod to move it to newcomer section for questions, figure out what u want to ask for it before posting it here, anything posted here now needs the picture of the sword + username + date as well as a set price, unless it is a intangible thing like a commission or something then i guess it does not need pictures, if u need a bit of time to get the photos required then say so and its np the mods are very understanding of this

Let's just keep calm, now. Welcome to the forum! Looking at A&A's catalogue you'll see their sharp rapiers are currently priced between $1100-1500. Based on the Dresden Rapier's design and decoration I would guesstimate that it fell somewhere about the middle-to-high-end of their range. Adjust down somewhat for the second hand market, then further down until it sells.

Then when I get ready to post it, I'll probably ask about $1,000 for it, maybe more if I finish the scabbard by then. Is there a special section where I could post it if I'm looking to trade it instead? ~ R.

No, there's no specific section for trades; since a whole lot of offers are for sale OR trade, having separate forums for each would get really fiddly. Just include "For Trade" in the title (and preferably also specify in the post itself that you're looking for trades, just for extra clarity) when you post it in the Items for Sale or Trade forum.

You could also contact A&A for older prices.
