I've noticed as I'm sure you all have we've been getting some Facebook behavior here lately. Like the saying goes, what happens on Facebook stays on Facebook. Not everyone is going to agree on a subject every time but that's no reason for name calling or insults. Also some of the older members with high end swords or just because they've been doing this longer shouldn't be talking down on new members. You're suppose to be guiding them not belittling them. Differences in opinions is what makes a conversation interesting. And since none of us knows everything we can all learn something new. And if you can't you're probably dead. I've seen a couple threads that could have been long and informative locked because of this. If you feel yourself getting hot walk away and come back after you had time to cool down.

I saw this video...about whiskey. Loved it. Same applies to swords. Just watch it and replace 'whiskey' with sword, and you'll have an appreciation of whats been going on.

Well that's silly, who would take their swords on ice ? Now on snow that's a different story but only if it's stainless steel.. Sooo, how many swords can one own before one would have a sword addiction ? We know that sword abuse is when you use the sword for cutting water bottles and don't dry and oil it before putting it away.

I could fill up the cup of my taza rapier with icecubes, but the coke would run through the holes. That's nonsense!

As a fan of bourbon and craft beer I encounter plenty of 'snobs' and such...of course, it's really easy to get them thinking in circles and have some laughs at their "enlightenment"
with swords, this generally holds up, although for functional weapons I think more concern about build quality is warranted compared to say percent corn mash or how many pounds of blackberries go in a fruit tart

But can you use your sword to stir the mash...

I think we all have our moments of grumpy 'know-it'all-ness', and periods of cluelessness. The major offenders know who they are, and need to ...breathe.
When I started, I asked a lot of dumb questions, ranted about non-factual opinions etc. Had I been treated the way you all treat the newbies, I'd be perma banned for retaliating or would have left never to return .
We really as a group need to be nicer, and more tolerant. The idea is to teach and guide, not be SFI professors.

I used to know everything ...
But that kinda stopped after my 17th year alive, or maybe it was my 18th ... coulda' been my 19th too ... probably my 20th as well ... now that I think about it a lil more, my 21st, 22nd too ... yeah, coulda' been my 23rd and 24th ... I remember my 25th, so gotta include that ... and my 26th ... 27th for sure ... oh, almost forgot my 28th ... well, that kinda carried into my 29th, then my 30th too ... 31 was pretty good -- no wait, no it wasn't ....
* stops muttering to himself cuz this could go on for awhile more yet ... *

I think we just get bored of being told we are wrong by people who watched one episode of forged in fire. That's best case scenario

I don't agree with the Hagakure on everything, or even on most things, but it does get some things right...

lol my gosh.. just read that dumpster fire of a thread. Guys, it doesn't matter if you have tons of well researched knowledge, or decades and decades of experience. If you're a nasty person, you will never actually be happy.. just entertained moment to moment by your hobbies. Hopefully this is a wake up call for some of us. Bored of people who watched one episode of Forged in Fire doesn't come close to explaining that garbage. I wonder if these threads only happen in the winter? Maybe we need a daily post limit from December to March
