I really liked this movie. It's obviously not for everyone, since it uses a very intense faux-continuous shot style in real time. And this style really limits what it can show. Basically it is and has to be a simple A to B narrative. But it works well here, and gives a phenomenal glimpse of WWI trench life. There are a few minor quibbles such as sparking bullets, but nothing major. It's well worth seeing esp. on the big screen.

I really need to make a point to see this in the theater. Hearing lots of good things about it.

Saw an interesting post on Reddit the other day that was a sort of "making of" but, contrasting the movie scene to footage of the camera vehicle rolling along ahead of it all.
Suffice to say, I hadn't been that interested in seeing a movie in ages. Sadly, I doubt that I will. Just haven't the time these days...

Have been waiting for a great WWI movie for ages. Guess I'll see how this one turns out when it comes out on blu ray. I really wish Peter Jackson would do another "They Shall Not Grow Old"

I really wish Peter Jackson would do another "They Shall Not Grow Old" That was fantastic too, a very respectful and artfully done documentary. There’s so many other points in history I’d like to see with his treatment. Last I heard he was working on a Beatles documentary (as if we needed another one of those). 🙄

But, the sad thing is there is probably more money to be made making a Beatles documentary than a history one.

If the Beatles doc will fund more like "They Shall Not Grow Old," then I'm done with ignoring another Beatles doc while everyone else flocks to it.
