Just as far as my research has gone, if you read down in that thread you posted some members will talk about how it is rare. I’m not saying they never existed, just are rare. The name is “metal pole” but some have been made of wood with metal on it. I think it just has to be some type of iron on it Perhaps the translation is metal pole because it is a pole with metal on it, or a pole covered on metal and not necessarily because it is literally a pole made totally of metal? I'm also curious as to what your research has been.

That is what I am thinking, kanji is odd sometimes. I read on a history post and it talked about at first they were solid iron but started using wood with iron playing to save material

Posts are not always reliable sources of historical information, as I'm sure you know. For instance - go back through my posts when I began here and you'll likely find some ignorant parrot bs.

"The Kanabou is a mace either made of hardwood like oak or forged iron, although the latter is more likely to be hollow or wood encased with iron due to weight's issues" More reading which actually seems to contradict some of what you state earlier.

What is contradicted? I told you they were first made out of iron and then they used them with wood

Well yeah. Metal is easier to keep in good condition and preserve than wood. It's also more valuable so more incentive to keep it nice longer. Kanabo are made from iron my dude

This does not imply what is written in the blog, nor does saying "some".

Still looking for a 35lb reference. Full iron tetsubo, none of the wooden ones will be and I said it can be up to 35 pounds. deadliestwarrior.fandom.com/wiki/Kanabo
