I expect those who made this image likely know little of the use of swords or their historical use and context.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

^ this ^ I pretty much agree . They also left out a few pretty damn important models....kukri, barong, kris, dao, etc. *edit*---I'm slowly learning that it's not JUST all about Euro swords and Katana. There's a whole lotta 'in-between' stuff out there.

There is a lot of middle ground in learning any subject as well but before you make too many assumptions, you might actually start learning something.

Iron and leather are there I understand that but when compared to the steel plate of Europe it is less and has more gaps

Millenial soundbites. Somebody watches too many badly written shows, but the "gladius" part suggests they know a little about Roman tactics. The katana comments would make more sense if "but when they do wear metal, I stick them full of arrows and stab them with my yari", was added.

shop.samurai-armor.com/The era of full plate armor was only a couple hundred years. Before and after you have armor much more comparable to the various Japanese armors.

Japanese always tended to be on the lighter side though compared to that. I mean they didn’t use war hammers or tons of blunts for a reason

That was actually meant for war horses mainly, could be used on armor but it is so heavy and would leave you open so why would you use it when you could have a sword or spear

The smallsword one is interesting. As is the sabre. The sabre pictured is a troopers model and would be on the front lines of engagements.
Lots of men carried smallswords into a fight, as well as the battlefield.
Also the arming sword... you've never touched sword and buckler have you?

The kanabo was also used very very rarely on the battlefield, I never said they don’t use blunts, I said they didn’t use “tons” of them. The kanabo was a very rare thing to see

Kanebo are not some unwieldy lump of lead. I've owned one, and they are as agile as any European poleaxe, and used in a very similar context.

I could see maybe a 10 pound one but not a 30 pound one. All I’m saying is you see antique nihonto being sold but not a lot of kanabo. Why would they use that when compared to a lighter more swift sword or spear.

The kanabo was a very rare thing to see You may also consider the fact that the evolution of arms and armor took a different course in Japan than in Europe for a very good, and quite clear reason... and that reason plays into why the kanobo may have been a little bit less common than the litany of weapons used across Europe.
