The first thing I ever forged was a little tomahawk. It wasn't perfect, but I think I did pretty well for my first time. This one I'm doing now was done by bending and forge welding an old file to create the eye (making the eye on an ax or tomahawk is the hardest part IMO). Luckily I was working with a guy who's way more experienced with forging, which was good because I've never successfully forge welded anything. Have you made a Damascus billet? Oh, heck no. I'd love to though.

Good first effort. Could make a basic box of dirt forge to start.

Good first effort. Could make a basic box of dirt forge to start. I hear it can be cheaper than using propane to do it like that.

That actually looks great for a first try. My first time forging ended with my knife cracking. It took me a few more tries to get the temperature right.
