Hey, I'm sorry if this is the wrong location to ask these kinds of questions but. A couple of years ago I received a 2 swords, which I believe to be a Wakazashi and a tanto, the scabbard and the hilt are made from what I believe to be limestone. They were purchased from someone who kept them in a dojo, and he purchased them from someone who made them in Japan (or so he said) I was wondering what the letters meant, and how old these are roughly? Thank you for your help in advance, and sorry if these types of questions aren't allowed.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I know little of nothing about Japanese swords, but I can tell you now---it's not limestone. Limestone is the material used for making roads and driveways, and it's FAR too soft and porous for this purpose. Looks like plastic to me.

The material that is being imitated is bone or ivory. These appear to be inspired by late 19th century bone/ivory mounted swords (usually tanto or wakizashi) that we made and sold to tourists in Japan (and continued to be made until WW2; their like is still made in China, often low-quality and as fake versions of the older Japanese ones). The blades varied from genuine sword blades recycled for the tourist market to low-quality blade-shaped pieces of metal.
Do you have a photo of the blades?
Are the guards metal or metallised plastic?

On further inspection the scabbard & hilt appear to be made out of a type of wood, and not plastic, The guard is metal - I'd say brass, or maybe bronze? This is the inside of the scabbard, and it appears wooden, I've never really taken a closer inspection of it, but now that I do, yeah it's wood. Thanks everyone for their help thus far!

I am suspicious of the hamon, making me think it fake. It is very uniform and equal on both blades as near as I can tell. Perhaps a better photo showing them together and clearly?

They are fake imitation swords. The geometry is wrong, the fake hamon "runs off" on both blades and they're lacking habaki.
