Hello. I am new to swords. I am an avid Colt 1911 and revolver collector and I want to get into collecting swords. I would like to purchase a real nice longsword and any recommendation would be appreciated.
Here are some specs.
1) Longsword + sheath (both made by same swordsmith)
2) Fully functional and durable.
3) I can wait upto 3 years.
4) I want traditional authentic looking longsword but I want it to be made with high precision. I don't want any engravings or any fancy guards. I want something simple but made with extreme precision. I understand historically authentic swords are full of cosmetic flaws. However, I am looking for a longsword that is made as precisely as possible. For example, A) grind lines are perfectly symmetrical, B) no gap in between guard and blade, and C) blade edges are sharpened perfectly symmetrical etc etc. My friends recommended me Albion. I have looked at Albion in real life and I was not impressed with cosmetic fit and finish. I want something more detailed and precisely made.
5) I love the look of albion brescia spadona. I am looking for something like albion brescia spadona but made with higher precision.
6) budge is $10000.
Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

Calling stormmaster. You should look at some of the customs he’s had in member’s collections. New acquisitions. Be patient he’ll be along.

And if you want a longsword, I would learn more about them then just jumping in and buying one. You may not like what your buying after learning more about longswords. But anyway, there are a couple good ones available at the moment if you still want to buy immediately.

If I may be so bold and throw my hat into the ring... Not taking any commissions right now but probably again fairly soon, we'll see. www.lukasmaestlegoer.com/I am a competent longsword fencer (rank 18 on HEMA Ratings) and I know what a longsword (or any medieval/renaissance sword for that matter) needs to feel and perform like. I do strive for clean and precise work, check out the reviews of my pieces for other people's impressions on that. Other good high end options in my eyes: Peter Johnsson and Gael Fabre, among others of course.
