...oh dear gods. What were we thinking. Well, yeah we got free tickets, so hey... but wow. WOW. Michael Bay finally made a Star Wars movie.
We have to mentally digest this thing. Getting back.

Cool you got to see it early. Maybe add a spoiler tag? Yes, in Germany it started this morning at 10:00 AM or some places 09:00 AM. Reactions are ULTRA divers again, viewers as well as journalists. Whats that exactly, spoiler tag?

Whats that exactly, spoiler tag? A spoiler tag would be renaming the subject of this thread to, "We did it: The Rise of Skywalker (Spoilers)." Meaning, if you discuss what takes place in the film, you might spoil it for people who have not seen it yet. So if you would like to talk about the film in detail, you should add the word "spoilers" to the subject.

Won't be seeing it until it comes out on used dvd. Certainly won't be paying to see it. Reviews here vary. It seems some of the enthusiastic ones are obvious shills; too effervescent to be taken seriously. The rest are mediocre to downright awful. I'm inclined to believe those reviews more. I'm actually reading some that are saying its worse than The Last Jedi. That's pretty hard to top! However, any hope I had for this movie went down the drain long ago.

Its certainly not worse than the Last Jedi, but the story is so... in germany we say "pulled over by the hair". I would say with this story the head of origin was SCALPED! Seriously bringing back the Emperor? Reactivating (SPOILER!) Lukes X-Wing after what? 30 years under water? You think GOT's heroes in seson 8 had plot armor? You aint seen nothing yet! Well, our guys in TROS should look like the Hulk-Buster or Ben Grimm! It has his moments, even great ones... but hey, that Abrams dude. They literally jump all over the galaxy and beyond, there and back, in 16(!) hours! Remember Star Trek reboot? Earth to Q'uonoth in 5 minutes or so? He gives a *beep* about in-universe rules... force- teleporting stuff? Check! Force-healing from deadly wounds? Check. Force ghosts interacting A LOT with real life things? Check. BUT: AWESOME imagery, very good lightsaber fights, Palpatine and the sith world Exogol are pure nightmarish horror.

As usual I'll watch the DVD until I like the movie. (self induced movie Stockholm syndrome)

As usual, I'm not gonna hold my breath for TROS. I'm glad they made the prequels, because they answered a lot of questions left hanging. Could have done without JarJar though. Completely useless and stupid. The whole Skywalker story should have ENDED with ROTJ. However----a final 'reunion' movie would have been cool. Having all the original cast back for a final farewell adventure would have been awesome enough for me. I grew up with Star Wars. Saw it at the drive-in when I was only 11 years old. It blew my mind. Sad that these new movies don't do the same. TFA was *okay* as it was, but they should have just wrapped it all up in one last film.

Good to know it's what I thought it would be lol... I guess I wait till it's on Netflix. I get my star wars fix from mandalorian. Not quite like the classic star wars in every way, but it's cool as hell.

I suspect the success of a spin-off that has only peripheral connection to the main story will open the way to more of the same. It's a fascinating universe, but I think we're all about sick of the recurring characters and plot lines.
I wish they'd do a Knights of the Old Republic TV series. Assuming they can get the saber battles right (which is asking a lot, I know).

After another 24 hours and (a lonsome) second sighting: No. Nope. Njet. Nein. Non. Iye. Rip the special effects and the pictures of that chaos puzzle - and almost nothing is left. Everything feels so FORCED (sic), illogical, so completely different from the Mandalorian for example... thats not Star Wars. Not ours.

Disney seems to have succeeded in making a film that nobody likes. The best reviews I've seen is that it's OK if you don't think about it.
I wish they would have at least had the courage to finish what TLJ started, and burn Lucas' universe down.

Oof. Yeah I heard it was bloody horrible. One review cited a complete and utter lack of imagination, which I figured would be a serious problem when the first big trailer brought back freakin Sheev.

Disney bent over backwards to appease the MRA's and threw TLJ under the bus and drove over the corpse a dozen times while using the second biggest hack in movies today, JJ Abrams, to "fix" it. It really is no wonder it's so bad. At least neither Quentin Tarantino or Michael Bey have been allowed to direct one yet.
The Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian, Rogue One - fortunately they can still do good stuff so long as they keep the whiners and the hacks away.
