Hello, I am new to katanas and was recently gifted one. I was told that you should be able to identify the maker, hence the quality, of a katana by the markings on the tang. I would love some assistance in figuring out the quality and history of this blade. Thanks in advance!

Quality can be judged in the blade by those who know what they are looking at,the mei is just a signature. This one I cant read but indicates Chinese fake. The mei is very poorly done so I have little faith the blade will be of quality.Pictures of the full sword will help us give you more info.
