So, my kit from Grimfrost came in tonight. It’s not on properly but I wanted to share my initial test. It’s very nice quality I would say. Please don’t mind the bad pictures. I had to take them myself.

So to elaborate. Wool tunic, winigas, and pants. Linen undertunic. Oseberg boots. Tyr protect bone necklace. Leather belt with leather pouch and my Windlass stiklestad sword. Overall except for the boots that haven’t been broken in it’s extremely comfortable. I can definitely see it being warm in the cold but breaths extremely well. The colors and quality are very attractive too. The colors are very understated and real looking. They don’t look cheap at all.

So I like it all overall but the helmet is crap. The ocular is crooked and it’s too big for me. I’m still keeping it though.

Nice! Very nice! You should wear that every day. I would.
The helmet is metal- it can be adjusted and reworked. I would suspect that unless you get one made custom, they are all going to be a bit "off". Fix it up and make it your own.

I’m actually wearing the soft kit to a Christmas party tonight.

Well you got it all wrong. Here these might help. But most important don't forget the two handed Viking sword back mounted of course. I do agree with you on your helmet, looks like it's built for Antre the Giant. Lol yesss!!! I mean I’m not a big guy at all, but this is the smallest they make and it’s still huge.

There are some smaller made Gjermundbu helmets out there. This one fits me fine with no padding. Unfortunately I don't remember where I bought it, it could even had been on Amazon they usually list the inside measurements. This one is 16 gauge not 18. The front strap is a little off center but an easy fix once I find some rivets to match.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Your pic with the mail and helmet is spot-on. As others have said though, the helmet is a bit off-putting. That style of helm should be much closer fitting and the oculars much smaller. Finding a proper Viking 'cat-eye' helmet can be an ordeal. You might look at some of the Viking helmets from Wulflund...in the CZ, I believe. Some great stuff there. www.wulflund.com

The braces running over the dome is half round steel like on the original one. Most companies use flat steel which is easier to make.
