I believe that would be a grenadier pattern hilt. A sword afoot rather than mounted.

Very nice indeed! You sure know how to pick them. How long is the blade? Any inscriptions or stamps?

Very nice indeed! You sure know how to pick them. How long is the blade? Any inscriptions or stamps? I just bought it today, but its described as 100 cm long all together Ill have to wait till next week to see any markings but it looks like a Solingen too. Im still not 100% sure of what it is to be honest but everything looks right including the peen work, he said either dragoon or mounted artillery (Major_tomm) but Im happy with either as the mounted artillery are incredibly rare. Im still chasing after a Napoleonic cuirassier sword but haven't found anything in the right price range.

Napoleonic Cuirassier pallasch do not come cheap or there is something wrong with it. I think you are after the uncut ones that survived the M1816 spear point regulations? Nor the cut to spear point Waterloo examples for that matter? I see an uncut blade maybe 2 times a year. Lately one with the right scabbard, so not an M1816 scabbard, that had a tag of Euro 1600 there abouts. Also one for over Euro 2000. Serious money attracts serious frauds. If you want a good one from a trusted source go to Bertrant Malvaux or www.jjb-collection.com/en/sabres-troupe-de-cavalerie-xsl-363_443_416_366.html . You pay extra but in the end it may save you much agony. Also, their prices are negotiable. Major Tomm is not very well regarded here to put it mildly....
