Hello everyone and happy holidays. So I thought it would be a great idea just for all us to talk about solutions for the current scams issues and cons. Specifically steps or rules that can be put in place to avoid these things from happening. As you all probably know it doesn’t matter how new or old a member is, how many posts they have, or their reputation, anything could happen. I personally have experience in dealing with con artists and scams so I thought I would share my thoughts on what can be done. I think at least having one of these things on this list would at least suffice, to allow people to sell. Although they absolutely do not provide any sort of guarantee or assurances they will at least deflect the non-professional scammers somewhat. And all the rules should apply to everyone no matter their standing.
Things that can be done:
1. Show a receipt and/or proof of interaction with the original seller if possible
2. Having the seller post at least a picture of every known flaw that can be reasonably expected to be known.
3. For all sellers to make a clear terms of sale and description.
Things to keep in mind/recommendations:
1. Cons work both ways you can be scammed from a seller or buyer
2. Don’t ever buy gift cards for the buyer, that is very popular with cons today to scam people
3. Never go past a point you are comfortable with when selling or buying
4. Always make sure the transaction is safe, it’s not worth it otherwise
5. For all buyers to use credits cards through PayPal (for private sales) in case the worse should happen
6. Be aware! Do not chase an item or disregard your safety net for the item
7. Be nice and don’t accuse anyone if there’s something you don’t like. If some moved, provide some constructive advice
8. Never be afraid to walk from a deal
9. If something doesn’t feel right ask, the worst he or she can say is no
10. Always try to get a clear record of a transaction with someone
