Anyone ever think about this...for real? I'm not talking---Go back in time and grab some original swords, then come back and sell them for a fortune. Or---Go to the future and get the winning Lottery numbers, then come back and get your ticket at the gas station on the corner. I'm speaking of the possibility and implications of REAL time travel. I think it would be a VERY BAD IDEA to go BACK in time. Seems to me that if you altered one single event, no matter how seemingly insignificant, it would alter EVERYTHING here in the present. Imagine you went back in time and did something that prevented your own birth. Would you not just cease to exist? If you were never born, then you can't be where/when you are. This is an insurmountable paradox. Yeah, we would all like to go back in time and re-do some bad things in the world and mistakes we've made...for sure. But, for example: What if you went back and killed Hitler when he was just a boy? What would the world REALLY be like now in the present? Crazy subject, I know. Just some fuel for thought. This is the B.S. I think about when I'm at work and should be thinking about.....work.

Assuming as a pure thought experiment, and knowing real time travel is impossible since time is an abstraction created by humans, then I think I would go back in time and just stay there. I would quietly make bets on sporting events and invest in Apple or Microsoft when they were just unknown start-ups. I wouldn't really affect anything, but I would certainly live comfortably. I could buy some savings bonds and put them in a safe deposit box, then jump forward 40 years and cash them in along with the now super valuable stock shares, then hop back to the 70's and re-invest the same money.
Yeah, I'd use the time machine as a big, fat, laws-of-physics defying money laundering ATM. The only world event I would change would be the number of zeros on my bank statement.

", and knowing real time travel is impossible...."
Are you SURE about that? Lots of things have been proven possible in not a very long time-span.

I wouldn't worry about it. Traveling backwards in time is not possible. The laws of causality, thermodynamics, and the conservation of matter/energy would necessarily be broken in the process, and those are all pretty concrete.

", and knowing real time travel is impossible...." Are you SURE about that? Lots of things have been proven possible in not a very long time-span. Time is an abstract, it does not exist in physics. Therefore, traveling through an abstract isn't possible. And yes, I know the formula for time dialation, but to get the equation to go backwards takes ALL the energy of the universe +1 just to move a millisecond. It doesn't exist. The only time travel we do is 1 second into the future every second. And that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So don't be wezlin' in on my time travel money laundering.... 'cause you can't...word to yo mama...

The problem is the connection of time and space. Most travellers with only a time machine are floating in the empty space where the - fast moving - earth has been in the time before, usually a vacuum, phhht... That can be the reason why the earth isn't crowded with time travellers. Shhhh. The public doesn't need to know where UFO's are coming from. Let them go on thinking it's aliens.

If no Hitler, somebody else would come along and do the same thing. You can't fix the world, no matter what you do. Nope, the world works on money. Money equals freedom in any society, in any country, and any time within human history. I might even go back to Roman days and pick up a few works of art and the hop forward to 2035 and sell, sell, sell and Sotheby's. Take the money back to 1948 and invest in IBM, then sell IBM in 1982. And by "money" I mean gold or hard currency, not paper dollars. Piffle on the world's problems. They will always exist. I would just move along the time streams cashing in nice and quiet like. Then do a Thanos when I'm done and find an island to buy and just sit quietly and watch the sunrise.

It's already proven that you can go forward in time by moving at a greater speed, thus time slows for you in relation to the world. The greater the speed the more time slows, and sensitive clocks put on aircraft have measured this. Going back is the (probably impossible) trick, and you would probably create a new timeline if you did. Really fun to think about the whole cause and effect if you could actually pull it off like Back To The Future, but hard to fathom having the ability to alter past tense.

After you’ve accumulated all that money can’t you just go into the future when they’ve cured death? Mwahaha!😎

Gotta be careful: when you're back in present time, the funds you take back with you to reinvest all have to be from that time period. Meaning your bills all have to be printed in the 60s-70s. Take a look in your wallet, the earliest any of you will see is possibly the 1983 series $20s. The last series printed without the magnetic strip in it. The little things will screw you up.

There is only one true space/time line, the rest are echos/shadows of the true or Prime S.T.L. These shadows were caused by the Chaos of beings messing with the Pattern of the original (Prime S.T.L.)
