If dealers are not permitted in this section, just let me know and I’ll take this down.
I bought a sword from John Spangler thru the oldguns.net website.
It was a little spooky, since Mr. Spangler sells direct (he's retiring and selling his personal items, he says) and does not accept credit cards or PayPal. (I know, I know - big red flag). I had not heard of him, but his internet footprint was large and his contact information was long-standing.
He was selling the exact item that I happened to be searching for. It was already advertised on his website - he didn't initially contact me.
He provided very fast and comprehensive email communication, and super fast shipping.
The item was exactly as advertised; better really. It was shipped in secure, easy to open, non-messy packaging.
I do not ever really recommend sending a check to a vendor with a "send payment and trust me" business model. However, Mr. Spangler delivered as promised. It was a pleasant transaction with no unhappy surprises.
While I don't indemnify him or anything, I highly recommended him as a seller, and would buy from him again.

I missed this earlier but I have bought from John in the past and he did accept a cc in my case but with a fee. Packing was very good for the sword I purchased and it may be an initial inquiry to him that ok'd the cc transaction (it was not a Marc Wade SMS item), or that we knew each other through another venue. I asked if paypal was ok for a sword and he ok'd the cc payment.
I have no problem sending a check or even a direct bank transfer to a known good guy. Some have even shipped before they received the funds.
Anywho, one of the good guys

I bought another sword from Mr. Spangler. As before, communication was fast, the transaction was smooth, shipping was quick, and packaging was secure, easy to open and not messy. All smiles with no unpleasant surprises. Highly recommended.
