Pretty excellent short movie, the way it should be in regards to fighting a skilled armoured opponent!

My only gripe is his legs get damaged...and it magically goes away. Not even a limp... But its a cool video.

The camera work needs a bit of... well, work. There's way too much of moving things shot with a handheld moving camera, turning everything into a shaky blur every few seconds, especially in the panning and tilting shots; they need a better tripod, a steadycam rig and/or a camera with a higher framerate (and just plain more experience for the cameraman, of course). Plus they could really use some more varied cut durations and some tighter close ups and wider establishing shots to break up the medium view after medium view during the action. But that's just the movie geek and media arts student in me griping because we always have to hurt the ones we love, you know? My only gripe is his legs get damaged...and it magically goes away. Not even a limp... But its a cool video. But then, he is some kind of summoned magical entity rather than a regular human, so I guess we can forgive stretching the capabilities of earthly physiology a little. For all we know, he might just actually heal that quickly.

At the end I was halfway expecting him to just disappear, Jedi-style, and his armor just fall in a heap---empty.

Great job, but it really needs a re-edit and new sound work. There's way too much shaky cam effect, much of it seemingly digital. Given their excellent sword work, this is unnecessary. The "swoosh" sound effects are also distracting. I hope they do a revamped version.

Not bad, but I also hate the "shaky cam" effect. It's distracting, and it's quite useless. They spend all that time and energy working out a fight scene, only to make it unwatchable by jiggling the camera all over the place.

OK, so it was deficient in production values, but it was probably more accurate than Braveheart. You can't have everything.

That's the damned thing - they could so easily just not use the shakycam, be it real or a digital effect. And they have made several beautifully shot short films in the past, too! For example: Also lots of camera movement and quick edits, but no gratuitous shaking, no blur, a nice mixture of close and open shots and longer and shorter takes, and you can always follow what's happening. Great stuff! PS. Here's their YouTube channel. Several nice videos - I particularly like the rapier vs. messer one Captain Jack Sparrow obviously took notes from.

Here's a dark thought, given the miraculous and improbable appearance of the knight, this was all just the woman's imagination and she's really still in the tent.

I will at least grant the short film the accolades it deserved when it comes to the armor. At the very least, I saw several blade hits on the armor that bounced off and did no harm to the knight. That's what armor does and it's the reason why it's worn. I'm just saying it's too bad they decided to use shakycam to film the scene so we can't clearly see anything happening. They put a lot of thought and work into the fight, then chose a production method that made it next to impossible to see it.

I do love the bolt just glancing off his helmet with a nice little DING.

Some of these low budget guys are doing a better job than some high budget Hollywood movies which are all computer generated stuff.
