So, I’m not really into fantasy swords, but the Death Dealer just seemed cool to me; as does the famous Frazetta painting. Almost plausible (though not really within the traditional fantasy antediluvian mythos). Anyway, they are on super discount at KoA, and I just had to get one. I’ll do a formal review eventually, and I’ll try to add a photo or two here. ‘Till then, I’ll just say I really like this thing. It is big and heavy, but not ridiculously so. Fitting for a merely mortal barbarian. Anyway, to me, it looks absolutely awesome in person. It is fun to handle. The quality is actually pretty good. If you are considering one, I say get one! 😊 www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=888807&name=Frank+Frazetta+Collectors+Edition+Death+Dealer+Sword

An almost 4 pound single-hand sword...it weighs only 3 ounces less than an Albion Baron.

The sword is slightly over-sized in every dimension, which, to me, is most noticeable in the grip diameter. Seems about right considering the size of the Death Dealer character. The handling, while not “historical,” is not too bad for an outright fantasy piece. The fittings make up a substantial part of the overall weight, and balance the big blade pretty well. It feels like it could’ve been “balanced” for a hulking barbarian of old. Sorta “plausible” in a strictly fantasy setting. It actually feels similar to my DT Tenth Century sword in weight and maneuverability. That is to say, it isn’t maneuverable at all, but it can be wielded with a modicum of control. As fantasy pieces go, it’s well constructed and thought out. It’s also actually licensed. Not a bad deal for the price, if you understand what it is from the get-go. And no, it in no way can compare to an Albion costing nearly 5 times as much (not including a scabbard). Nor does it even compare at all to, say, a heavy cavalry cut-n-thrust saber of ill handling reputation such as a US m1840 HC (costing only maybe 3 times as much). Anyway, it’s a neat package if you’re into that sort of thing. The DT: www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=DT2100B&name=Del+Tin+10th+Century+Viking+Sword+%2D+Black%2C+Smooth+GripCheers. 🙂

The Conan swords weigh in at almost 4 lbs. but a lot of people buy them whether it be the expensive Albion or a Windlass. If you like the sword and can afford to buy it than buy it. It's your money.

I think the worst thing about this one is that they turned the hilt the wrong way around.

MOK - oh, man. Now I can’t unsee that backward hilt. 😕 This thread got me thinking about the big ole’ DDS, so I decided to put it out on display. Just for fun. Happy Friday, SBG.

Sorry to say otherwise: but the Albion Atlantean is really 7,8 of your pounds, the Fathers is 7,5... O.o

All the Death Dealer stuff is cool, but the axe takes it all. Nothing says -"I keel you!"- like a few pounds of sharpened steel on the end of a stick.
