Must be “quality control” slipping up then because I have seen a couple with rust on them. Maybe; but you should have seen some of our Hanweis over the years; all of them went back, except the practical plus XL, which is flawless, and the Praying Mantis. But be sure, if that Praying Mantis would have been the full price (around 1400 Euro here)instead of second-hand it would have been sent back lightspeed as well: wavy fuller, two sides rayskin has completely different "grain"(?)/quality. The others had bent blades, wavy blades, loose fittings, loose wraps etc. You can get that sort of trouble with every maker i guess. Especially in Germany! Sword producers scrapyard. Remember how much Holger does hate DSA? I like their designs, and i wanted to try - and everything is fine with swiss saber; but i had to buy it all amyself. Well your luck must be lacking because out of the 20 plus Hanwei I owned none of them has the systemic problem as you describe . Two side grain is a production norm with one side having a oyatsubu and the other having average skin. Remember stingray skins are expensive and even on higher price swords doesn’t always guarantee an emperor’s nodule and with regards to the rippling on the polish, it’s typical Hanwei. They machine grind all their blades so quicker is less labor intensive and cheaper compared to traditional polishing. But at least you get a return policy with Hanwei , dynasty forge, and munetoshi compared to the sketchy send it back to longquan and it disappears into their black hole of customs. Good luck trying to send a sword back to China . Chance are slim and none that you’re successful. Don’t fall in the sale tactics that longquan forges use such as a partial refund or the promised of a better blade on your next commission. Receiving a subpar sword is already the fault of the forge and their lack of quality control and no amount of bullsemprini compensation can make up for that.

"Lonquan" swords, 12 we are very pleased with, one "lemon"; including 3x Ryansword, 3x Huawei, 3x Hanbon, 2x ChinatownCollector, 1x via a french martial arts shop (blunt Tai Chi saber with great distal tape), 1x EverythingWuShu (the lemon, a very sloppy done Miao Dao). And i see it is quite useless to discuss this any further, becuase you seem full of hate for Longquan sword. No need to fight here; pity for you you got such bad luck. We had it at other brands. Have a nice day.

Have a nice day. Hate ? I don’t hate. I accepted the facts as facts and based my opinions on those facts. I have a lot of longquan swords in my collection over the years more than 15+ ranging musashi , huawei, , and other eBay brands . I don’t know how you corroborated my statement of lack of quality control of sinoswords with hate of longquan swords . What I hate is that everyone is recommending a brand that offer subpar quality and doesn’t really care about the swords their shipping And the fact that this subpar quality became the standard. Hell even a 265 huawei unokubi looks better than most of the stuff sinosword has to offer . You need to seriously take a chill pill or should I say some lithium for that psychotic behavior you’re having.

Nothing more to say; i just was curious about your unusual experience with them. But i dont like your very agressive tone; i am just a dumb woman with no deep clue on swords, and you sir are so right. I will leave this account to Holger to do his sales and will contribute no more. Strange place here. Good bye.

Don’t blame you Dandelion. That was uncalled for I know my man has a short temper and is overreacting often; so being banned was a matter of time. But regarding the tone here i begin to understand his reactions here. Whatever. Thank you.

Okay guys let's back up on all this. I would recommend Sino on the Sense that of 4 paid orders I had they came dead on or close to blade specks asked... Yes issues. But the blades that started this post are markdowns from unpaid orders or prototype runs. And are discounted as such. You can throw away the mounts or at least the entire handle if you want and build a semi custom. I'm really tired of people just throwing usual suspects out there. It happens in the knife world, gun world, car world ex.... People are people and when they really like something they say so and want you to agree. And when they don't people get mad... But good reviews make comparisons and views clear. Why they like or don't. Comparisons to experience and other similar market offerings. To much of this is "well this guy hates it... So your dumb for liking it".... Not directly said but implied. And it's just getting old. Try understanding and respecting even if you disagree. Often the reason why you like something will be why someone dislikes it and vice versa. When I was in tv sales for 5 years I would keep track of TV sales and returns. Every brand held a 30% defective return average for small or large defects. But all the way to $3,000 TV's 30% was the average across all brands Vizio, Sharp, Sony and Samsung ex. Only TV's that were higher were store brand or low name brands like Sanyo or Westing House ex. I imagine you would collect very similar Data if you stated compiling data on the sword market. Sometimes you get a really good one. Sometimes you get an average one and sometimes you get a bad one... It happens on anything eventually... Some people have never been in a car accident.... Yet there are around 40,000 fatalities a year in the US. I am tired of the JW review being referenced. He is of some experience. But it keeps sounding like they were sending him free blades and were Lazy about it. I can't blame them. Matt Jensen's review was A grade and he pushed 2 blades to the Break and I was satisfied with what it took to break an average sword.... And his custom was poorly designed for serious use and abuse. Yet it broke way further down the road than I thought it would.... My first two Hira from them Cut 7/8 poplar dowles. And my cuts were bad with poor form and no chips or rolls just stuffs. And Japanese used Tatami. But I build stout blades because I'm a little more old school minded when it comes to challenging myself. I like bigger and heavier. I know JW owns a few big blades... But tends towards modern preference that will allow him to look smoother and more efficient... Again not a knock on John he is fallowing a common trend much like baseball Barry Bonds would not have hit 73 homers with the 54 oz bat babe Ruth hit 20 a season with back in the early red Sox years... Would he have made the 20? Would he have made 60 with a 40oz bat like Ruth in '27... Not likely. It's easier to look good with a 31.6 oz bat and get 73... Nobody thinks equivalency they just want to win and be right. Point being JW is used to his preference swords cutting his chosen targets in his cutting area. So if a sword lessens that or doesn't allow him to do it at all it's junk to him. Doesn't matter the process that made them or features. So San Mai lamination lines, folding ex. It's about ability to perform a standard task. People who fire Auto Pistols will speak the same way of good revolvers because they are not as impressive with them.... This is common as I get into fitness more... People who can Bench 250lbs on a smith machine bench couldn't do it on a free barbell bench... And the barbell guy Can't do 125lbs in each hand with dumbell press usually... Again what is the goal? What are you after ? What is the equivalency? People may think "this guy wants to be right". John sure thought so. And so did my Friend John is buddies with. But they don't get I'm just trying to help people find equivalency and things that they like. Yeah other brands do things better at the price point... But for under $500 to get to see a lot of what you can see in some of these blades is interesting. You can polish to fix geometry/sharpness, change fittings and get a new mount.... But you can't take a $200 Huawei and give it Hada and other details later.... I asked my Hira to be folded... Why? Fun to look at and it makes sure they forged it because even though heat treat matters most typically... The small performance bump from forging and pounding on a blade is needed. I fight for every inch with Budget builds. My thickness is 8mm tapering to 5mm. My nakgo is 7mm tapering to 4. The Hamon never drops under 1/3 of the blade width... But not over 1/3. I want it to be harder to bend. If it chips there is plenty of Hamon left. It sounds like John might have picked underbuilt rather than over... I don't know. But again it never sounded like a paid Job. And Sino has good well detailed reviews. Should they have been lazy... No... But feels like they were. Even in my orders sometimes Sino would not do things because I wouldn't pay for a lamination, Tamahagane or a more expensive fitting set. So they dedicate the time and attention based on what they are getting.... Crappy but often true of a lot of things in life. People love public perceptions to much in a lot of things. But if you have a specific want, goal, and task you can better decide the path.... You can have the best plane in the world... But without a destination you won't get anywhere. So if a costumers want is to have something more "turnkey" in terms of being amazing to most people out of the box... Sino isn't it. But if you had a specific thing you wanted them to emulate for a task blade wise and go from there to build a custom. Anything not Japanese is a Knockoff trying to be what it isn't.... Yes guys Hataya Kotetsu are knockoffs, Motohara are knockoffs... And people who kept trying to Compare Kaneie to Nihonto in any way... Just wanted to like a lot of people get something they are happy with (and that really ties to others being impressed or Jealous) without going broke.... And that is an equivalent shifting scale. Like everything it's relative and perception based. Personally I would probably always start with a Sino because I have a specific speck set and task in mind. But I care most about the blade being how I asked it to be... And not if the trend of the market or personal preference of some other person isn't that... These people shaking their heads at me don't agree. Fine that's cool. But I also like that something didn't exist before I ordered it. It's fun to get "your blade" and I'll deal with people not being so impressed with it.... Most of this from people is liking when they can say they own a Alex Zheng blade... Oh those are popular and Sought after... budo... So are those. And they are cool. But I would rather do my own thing. I will gladly Pony Up my last Sino Hira if some of you want to throw in all of these "better" swords. Let's let Mike Femal Sensei at Nihonzashi put them through the Kaneie gauntlet testing of varied mats and bamboo... Then let's let Matt Jensen push harder.... Any takers? I would do it just to see it happen and know the results good or bad.... Think on it 😁 Point is Robert wasn't saying the Sino were just miles better than most. The blades for sale have some character. I inquired about 1. But the price again is such that most of them can be built up to start really getting somewhere but he 1of 1 and not just a semi custom. As they sit yes again price point you can get factory blades that do better in other categories... But again what matters to all of you as people? In the pics these Sino for sale aren't amazing Nor a "bargain at twice the price"... But at that price there is some things to see you won't see in swords costing more. The last picture set someone copied a wind and thunder basically. The Thunder a $675 sword shipped buying this blade you could get some folding and lamination lines. A Hamon no wind and thunder has and put the $175 savings on something like a new tsuka. It depends on again want, perceptions and where you find equivalency. Again this is me talking. I don't care if you think I'm Right. If you think I'm wrong it still helps because by stopping and thinking about it your still helping yourself because just like when your hungry knowing what you don't want can help you decide. Matt Jensen's review is the best one. He showed me what to expect and I got that every time. But some people will get more or less.

I'm sorry for it being a lot guys. I'm in Hong Kong currently and after training for over 13 months without taking a day off it's very disappointing to see so much Trash talk and Disrespectful behavior by the community here. This is all a fun nerdy pursuit that we have in common. And agree or disagree you learn just as much if you pay attention.
Here I am mockingly being called "the student of many Masters" because I have visited and taken class at a lot of schools here. Because I wanted to discuss... Learn and be challenged. It's how you grow. Before that I had trained at 6 different IP man line schools before finding my line 3 ish years ago. But I'm finding much of what I didn't want to find. Blind hate and criticizing. Endless rooms and schools talking hot garbage about guys they have never met or trained with often times. Students and Masters whose whole experience is 1 room and way of looking at something.
I had to explain it to a master as simply as I could because the attitude of many schools like people here sometimes is they want to change your mind and convert you. The first metaphor failed... I tried to explain that if 10 is the goal in math of a wing Chun problem to get to 10 in your personal skill then there are many ways to get there (5+5, 5x2, 1+1+1ex.) But English not being his first language and hating math I shifted to... Breakfast
He liked his eggs over easy. And much like his views of wing chun it was in his mind the way you eat eggs (much like steak guys liking rare). I like a good scramble. And he didn't care for them. And I explained that Even though we like a different breakfast it works for each of us, It helps us on our way and we like it... So it's not really "wrong" if it works for you. But just because I don't prefer a fried egg doesn't mean I can't ponder it and occasionally eat one... He disagreed but that's fine he understands my point.
Is your view and your crowd worth fighting with someone? Yeah we all know a guy. We all think we are informed and have facts. All my training path shows me is few absolutes in life. I can't think of any thing or concepts that people everywhere 100% agree on.
So if a guy wants to add to 10 with 5+5 cool let him. If you like a hard boiled egg for breakfast rock on. It doesn't matter if some guy knows another guy who is in some Facebook group that thinks hard boiled eggs suck. But you'll go farther down the road eating breakfast then not because your stuck in this argument. Just like a lot of us get trapped into talking about swords rather than using and learning with them and from them.

Hey folks, I'm going to go ahead and lock this before anything more gets said that could get a person in trouble. Already some not great stuff got floated out. Remember when a contentious topic comes up it's not that people can't speak their minds, it just needs to be done in a civil/respectful manner.
