Good Friday Morning, So I have ended up on many catalog mailing lists including my favorite entertaining catalog--BudK. I have ordered some fun stuff from them in the past (their pistol crossbows are a lot of fun). As a young man, I also bought some stuff I wouldn't dream of buying now, but I still get a good laugh from a lot of their stuff. I thought I would share in good fun. Anyway, I thought I would start a thread showcasing the more outrageous stuff that is out there in the world of edged weapons. To start with I present the Assassin Battle Battle Box www.budk.com/Assassin-Battle-Box-%E2%80%93-Push-Daggers-Throwing-Star-K-46361Hey it's got some interesting stuff in it, but the marketing is the really entertaining part: "When you're going out on a covert mission and need to be armed to the teeth, this box has everything you need." I just imagine John Wick browsing the BudK catalog and looking at this and saying, "hmmmm, that could come in handy." Next we turn to medieval times with the "Legends in Steel Medieval/Renaissance era Carbon Steel Two Handed Great Sword" www.budk.com/Two-Handed-Great-Sword-25846The description clarifies "carbon steel" by adding the replica "features stainless steel construction." It also explains "ancient swords often weighed in at more than 20 lbs in order to effectively penetrate heavy combat armor." Hopefully the "blood grooves" give it a decent POB. But that's a lot of metal for $57.

Teenage me would have been stoked to have that assassins battle box lol. I could see me trynna hide all that semprini all over my body and doing a bad job, and being super uncomfortable walking around
These days I wouldn't waste my time with it. But a part of me knows kid me would have been delighted to have it 😂

LOL I think Bud K makes the swords that heavy in hopes that the people ordering them won't actually be able to pick up the things and hurt themselves.

We made lots of homemade nunchuks and other ninja weapons though.

Hands up those who had to conceal self-inflicted wounds with ninja weapons in the 80s

"ancient swords often weighed in at more than 20 lbs in order to effectively penetrate heavy combat armor."
You actually have to TRY to be that ignorant these days. Like, you have to be careful not to accidentally google swords at all.

As bad as I hate to say it, If I had an extra $200 just to piss away---I think I would get the Battle Box. ------- Nah--------but when I was a teenager-------Ohhh, hell yeah. Back then, I thought BudK was THE place to get cool gear. I still have the HUGE two-handed Scimitar sword...which is actually pretty solid for a stainless wall-hanger.

Pretty much every Kit Rae product is an abomination. You must have been browsing the 'New Additions' page at KoA recently! And, yeah, they're pretty 'out there' even for wall hangers.

if we're talking about all time ridiculous wallhangers somehow still available online, i think an all timer is the heavy metal fakk2 sword
the name,
the design,
the wall art,
the promotional tie in to an unloved series and unloved game made primarily because a surprising amount of people didnt know how to find porn online in 2000
it's all there

"ancient swords often weighed in at more than 20 lbs in order to effectively penetrate heavy combat armor." Seriously I wonder what the person who wrote that descriptions research looked like? Did they just repeat something they saw in one spot, or are they using like 30+ year old "knowledge"?

I made a whip out some old chains as a kid after playing Castlevania. Good thing I didn't access to something like this!

Yeah I made a pair of nunchucks when in high school( Bruce Lee was all the rage then, early seventies) and hit myself in different areas before stopping. If I had one of those chain whip things I or someone else would probably be dead.

I would say that whip would be more of a danger to user than the opponent. No way would I swing that thing.

Dear Lord! I wouldn't swing that thing even wearing chainmail, full plate, and with kevlar on top of all that. That's as bad, or worse, than my spiked flail! edit: No, actually, I think my spiked flail is worse.
