I want to ad a Khukri to my Collection and I am looking for some recommendations. It should be suitable for test cutting as well.
As there are many Vendors that offer Khukris I would be pleased to get some recommendations.
Thanks for the help in Advance.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

I'd say---work your way up. If you're not familiar with that type of blade, start with a Cold Steel kukri machete. Get used to the feel and the handling. Then move on up to the Windlass model--sharpened. It's the real deal. I don't own one, but I got one as a gift for my bro-in-law and I liked the feel of it. After that, the sky's the limit. Get any factory made model that turns you on, or go full custom.

Ex Ghurka Khukuri House makes some solid stuff, but they are often criticized for being heavy and poorly balanced. Still, the quality of the steel and construction is very good. If you want a more high performance kukri, then try these folks: kailashblades.com/I own a sirupate kukri I have been trying to unload from Ex Ghurka Khukuri House that I could sell to you for very little. The edge needs a tiny bit of refining, but it has never been used for cutting. For the record, I believe both these recommendations I have made are very good at what they do, but they are different.

I got a Kabar 1249 Kukri several years ago with the intention of using it for camping, but my Kabar Cutlass (duded up in camo) fills that role so I haven’t used it in the woods yet. A good looking grind on it, and the bevels on the blade and a false edge makes it a bit more refined than the Cold Steel version. Grip has the trademark Kabar ergonomics. Painted (powder coat?) finish on the blade is very durable. Sheath is corduroy/synthetic/boring. As a tactical-practical kukri I think it’s great, but there’s not much that’s traditional about it.

I have a KHHI siripate I picked up years ago off a forum member that, while I quite like, I feel is a tad overbuilt. A lot of modern kukri tend to be, it seems, with Himalayan Imports building their brand on it.
I kinda feel like a lot of the "makers" you'll find are, perhaps, rebranders, as most offer pretty much the same things.
I've heard good things about Tora, but their stuff hasn't really caught my eye. I'm intrigued by Kailash, this being unit the second time I've seen them, but I don't have the funds to pick one up and try them out. There's another brand I can't think of that I've seen on Facebook maybe someone else knows the one? Maybe it was Kailash, actually...I don't know.

I might be alone on the love of heavy built kukri haha. I love how thick my Ex Ghurka Kukri House is. Would make a mean survival blade and a mean weapon. For its size, it can chop like an axe

Ontario makes a great KLO (Kukri Like Object) at a great price, and Condor makes some different models. Want a beefy beater with a recurve...look no further than Ontario Sp53 which features fantastic tempered 5160 steel. Midway USA often offers sales on the Ontario. BUDK still sells a super inexpensive Kukri using (maybe) 5160 and it gets good reviews but you will still worry about the occasional poorly tempered lemon.

I have a Salyani Khukuri from Kailash Blades. It's far from overbuilt: quite agile and efficient. It's a historical style and one of their leaner models. They have a broad variety of khukuri types if you want something different and they offer a few grind options for each of their models too. It took a while to get to me since they build in small batches, but I did get some WIP pictures from them which was cool. When I order another from them I'll get a wood grip since the buffalo horn is beautiful but slippery. I know they're experimenting with micarta as well. Overall I had a really good experience with them.

Seconded Kailash Blades !!!
I've met the [Kailash Blades] guys at the recent Sydney Knife Show and got to handle some of their offerings, they're really well built and handle quite nice.

The Kailash kukris look very nice. Looks like they have a similar philosophy to Tora: make them to the same designs as in the old days, not beefy/clunky monsters like so much of the modern Nepali stuff.

Ex-Gurkha Khukuri House or Khukuri House are both good choices. Here are mine. I recently revisited the Khukuri House and the site has changed much since ordering these about 15 or so years ago.

Thanks pgandy , KHHI were the first and original khukuri manufacturers in Nepal started by two ex members of 10th Gurkha Rifles back in around 1989 (I think). anyway I have had a few dealings with them over the past few years and found them a really good company to deal with . I had them customise some khukuris for me even down to the distal taper I wanted , and nothing was too much of a problem to them . They even sent me a free British Army issue model when I ordered a khukuri one Christmas .
