I am trying to track down what is a good manufacturer of a Kopis sword. Any recommendations?

I'll second that. Probably the best off-the-rack kopis currently out there.

I'll second that. Probably the best off-the-rack kopis currently out there. Most of the kopides and falcatas out there are really overweight, basically the ancient equivalent of 2.3kg arming swords. So it's easy to be the best, or at least close to the best, just by being good. Next best of the current production models I know of after the Kris is the Deepeeka: kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH4237Wkultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH4237HMaybe next after these is the Windlass Cobra Steel, but it's overtly modern.

I was under the impression that the falcata and Kopis shared a similar design? What about Devil's edge Kopis?

I have a custom falcata being made right now which is pretty similar to a kopis. I will update this thread when I get it. You can probably have a more directly accurate Kopis made by them if mine turns out good. Who is making your Falcata?

I was under the impression that the falcata and Kopis shared a similar design? What about Devil's edge Kopis? 350-500g overweight for the size (i.e., 60-100% overweight), very modern styling. (Its weight wouldn't be unusual for a modern kukri of that length (some are significantly light, and some heavier), so should be quite usable. However, it's a poor substitute for a kopis/falcata, because it will handle very differently.)

All of the production falcata out there I know of are overweight. The least overweight is AFAIK a Deepeeka model that's only a little over 1kg. Maybe about 700-750g would be good for the length of the usual repro (about 20" blade).

I was fortunate to score one because--in true Windlass fashion--they dropped it after only a year or two (and kept their monstrous brass hilted one that never seems to go away *facepalm*). Blade of about 21" inches iirc (mine's in storage) and weight about 850g. I'll have to be quite desperate ever to part with mine.

Kris Cutlery has a kopis; i have not seen any reviews of it. however, the reputation for their swords are excellent
(their Chinese production swords had a less stellar rep, so those got discontinued. their Filipino production swords are good)

Just kinda for what it’s worth..
L Driggers is currently not accepting commissions, and has asked that no one contact him for the time being. However, he has shared on FB that his upgraded shop is steadily coming together, so there is hope that he will open back up for commissions at some point.
I have three falcata/kopis made by him. Each is really quite nice. I’m a pretty big fan of his work.
If you are still looking when (hopefully) he opens his shop again, it might be worth sending him a pm.
On the very far opposite end of the spectrum, Zombie Tools has finally replaced their retired “Hooligan” fantasy falcata design with the new “Hellion.” I gather from the previous discussion that you’re looking for an historical design, so I’m just kinda throwing this out there fwiw.
Whatever you choose, please share your impressions!

One thought...if you want something to just play with and beat up, I love the cold steel Kopis (machete). Cheap, fun, and guilt free...

Kailash Blades takes custom orders, and have a good reputation for making well-constructed and lively knives/swords. I'm currently waiting on a price quote for a custom kora sword. A kopis shouldn't be a problem for them.

The blade shape might be a bit more kukri-esque than is typical for kopises and falcatas, which seem to be somewhat curvier and pointier as a rule, but I like the overall effect. Looks like a handy yet robust little chopper.
PS. Huh. On second glance, it might actually be the funky fullers are kind of fooling my eye... Nice piece, in any case.
