I always thought it would be hilarious to have a seagull as a totem animal. I guess mine would be an armadillo! Think about it..... The Texas State whatever an armadillo is classified as. You do know armadillos can carry leprosy don’t you. Don’t eat the roadkill!

Nah...no armadillo stew for me. I was thinking more of just the image of an armadillo compared to me. Short, waddling, and covered in armor.

Huh. Is it really that simple? My own tribe was never too in touch with the spirituality. We just had some of the beliefs and were mostly Christian What is your tribe? Swampy Cree. N Dilect. I'm metis, so I'm a mix of that and European, but the actual native part is Swampy Cree

I remember hearing about vision quests. We never did those though, as we weren't really all that involved with each other You should watch the movie “A Man Called Horse” 1970. Talk about a vision quest! Haven't seen it but I would like to. I love movies that show aspects of my culture I haven't been exposed to

I’m too much of a wuss for that.

That looks like a good read GC. And I’m not sure the “Horse” trilogies are even accurate in any way. But I was 14 when the first one came out and the trial/test he went though was visually stunning and impactful to my younger self. Don’t even remember much else about the movies except that scene.

To be honest, Little Big Man is a truer (though lighter hearted at most times) look at the plains natives. Richard Harris was a monumental actor and that trilogy really must see movies but it is film, after all. Another standout film is with Harris as Zachary Bass in Man in the Wilderness (redone in The Revenant with DiCaprio). My early childhood was in Arapahoe land and influences but also read Plenty-Coups as a youngster along with pouring over legend, arts and crafts books from W Ben Hunt www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh=p_27%3AW.+Ben+Hunt&s=relevancerank&text=W.+Ben+HuntCheers GC aka horseclover

My bad, I tried steering the discussion another way for that reason. I probably should not have made that last post and didnt mean it in a disrespectful manner. No worries, we seem to be doing alright so far.
