Similar to leftist beliefs these days Yeah, this? This is EXACTLY what not to do. OK? Please? I meant it from an observational view and not a criticizing view. But looking back I agree I probably should not have said that and found a less controversial way to get my point across Though to be fair I've seen people bash Christianity before and nothing was said to them. Makes the rules less clear

Yeah. It's unfortunate, but true. You can help us mods be more consistent about these things by, when you come across a comment that you find insulting, against the rules or otherwise objectionable, reporting it (the link is hidden behind the cog icon in the top right corner of each post) instead of responding in kind. We can only moderate what we see, and even between all of us we do not see every post in every thread, nor would we necessarily catch on to every offense even if we did see everything.

Thanks for saying so. Maybe it would be better to talk to the mods first before responding to something that is offensive. It will keep the heat out

Be not like a common jay, for he is my true totem. I always thought it would be hilarious to have a seagull as a totem animal.

Man I've always just thought of them as the rats of the sky 😂 well... I suppose the common day view isn't as willing to see the good aspects of animals unless they are super cool Honestly the modern view of a seagull is why I would choose it. But I've never grown up too deeply in the totem culture, so I have no idea how it works.

How do you find out what your true totem is? Pick an animal that appeals to you. Pick a website or other source that rationalizes your choice. And there you go! The thing is, even if you believe there's "something to it", a totem is first and foremost a symbol, so what really matters is what it represents to you.

My own tribe was never too in touch with the spirituality. We just had some of the beliefs and were mostly Christian

Visions, dreams, feeling a strong connection and/or hunger! I remember hearing about vision quests. We never did those though, as we weren't really all that involved with each other

My own tribe was never too in touch with the spirituality. We just had some of the beliefs and were mostly Christian Oh, I'm sure many cultures had/have more formal traditions about it! But that's what seems important to me, if you're going to take the whole thing at all seriously - after all, if you're choosing a totem because of what it says to other people, that's more like picking a logo to convey a particular message than anything remotely "spiritual", you know?
