Very VERY cool, thanks kid for posting this. I have only read the first one, but am already a big fan, and have had a slight itch now turned ferocious to do the sword of truth. Very cool blades, who was the maker? The original post on that sword was over on SFI if I recall Sam. Can't remember the name. There's a similar thread to this one over there that has a link to the original construction page though. He did do a 'how to' of sorts if I recall...or more correctly a rough overview of 'how he did it'. Cris Ok did some looking and here's some threads: forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=65669&highlight=Goodkindforums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=66665&highlight=GoodkindC

Just caught a commercial for this show on WGN. Going to have to look and see when it'll actually be showing.

I could not help but notice this thread. I love the sword of truth, I started reading the series when I was 11. I have probably read all of the books 3-4 times (except for confessor, only read that twice). Well with the release of the series I decided I would reread the series again.
So far I have thought they did a good job with the series, considering the amount of similarities between the book and show (yes i know there are a lot of changes, but people always forget to look at whats similiar)
I just wish I could buy a SoT, It would be so cool to have

Yes well, people will point out and be furious over the differences more so than they will enjoy the similarities. As we say, "passion rules reason."

That is a valid point, but I love Goodkind's work way to much to be angry about it, and i just found a press release from Goodkind himself on why he would not allow the sword to be sold: That means everything from merchandising rights to game rights to feature film rights all based on the books and the characters. Like many studios, Disney will not become involved in any project of this nature unless they can obtain all the rights, and those rights must all be clean. This is the reason Ive never allowed any portion of the rights to be sold or used. To maintain the value of pristine rights it was necessary not to allow, for example, anyone to make copies of the Sword of Truth, or to buy game rights. In order to make a deal like this the rights had to be virgin.
At last I understand why, but I hope they start selling the right to make replicas of the sword. If you want the rest of the press release: www.terrygoodkind.com/news/news2.html

I'm a fan of the book series myself. The , mini-series is actually pretty good for what it is. I see the difficulty of directly translating the book to a serialized TV show, since every single episode wouldn't really have a conclusion I was pleasantly surprised to see that on the one episode where Richard goes to the town he was born in, he meets his "mother", and I was somewhat miffed as I'd thought the twist about his mothers parents was sort of thrown out the window. But then my faith was renewed at the end of the episode
