The women with superpowers movies are really good, and it bleeds off to TV with series like Stranger Things. What I find kind of crazy & implausible is the badass chick (no superpower) flicks, and not because of attitude or shooting guns or whatnot, but the unrealistic physical feats they are supposedly capable of. Little stick women like Angelina Jolie in Salt, for example, jumping around on overpasses and kicking the butts of 250lb. men all day long without leaving a mark. I know there is unrealistic cinematic license for male action stars as well, but 5' nothing 98lb. soaking wet women...get real. Yet people buy pocket-sized Tom Cruise as viable hand-to-hand combatant. I agree with what your saying, and said so myself regarding unrealistic license including the men. Funny you mention Cruise, as he recently played in a series of movies portraying Jack Reacher, a MONSTER according to the novels. This is probably why I enjoy the more realistic portrayals of violence, warts and all, where a guy gets hit and it shows, but Hollywood likes their pretty stars remaining pretty. The lady element really is a step further down the "leave your brain at home" rabbit hole, because even Cruise has 75lbs (a lot of that being upper body muscle) over some of the female stars foisted as brawlers. I think there are some tough ladies out there in real life, weighing 150-175lbs. (I like "big boned" gals) but Hollywood doesn't give them top billing because they don't have the "look", evidently. We also get the acting paradox, where you get a more realistic physical specimen (Arnold, Dolphe Lundgren, etc...) for the "macho" roles but lose the acting ability. Ah, so why not Russell Crowe? And Juan Claude Van Dam wasn't so big, was he...and he didn't knock Olivier, O'Toole, Brando out of the acting pantheon. Now I'm confused.

And Juan Claude Van Dam wasn't so big, was he...and he didn't knock Olivier, O'Toole, Brando out of the acting pantheon. Now I'm confused. Well... to be fair nobody in the ancient world was like Arnold. A professional Bodybuilder who used PEDS. Here is an article on a skeleton found of a knight and he wasn't all that big but he was still strong and muscular to some extent. www.ancient-origins.net/history/unlocking-identity-stirling-knight-006851"His skeleton suggests that he was 5 feet, 7 inches (1.7 meters) tall with a hardy physique. Deep grooves in his shoulder bones suggest he had developed large muscles even while he was still growing, perhaps starting from his early teens." "While his upper body, particularly the back and shoulders, were exceptionally muscular, his lower body does not appear especially strong. " "The man’s body showed signs of serious wounds from earlier fights. Most strikingly was a dent in the front of his skull where he was presumably struck by an ax or sword. This blow did not kill him, however, it most likely caused him a serious concussion. Rather, the researchers believed that the man was killed by an arrow wound." I wonder if 5' 7" was tall for his place & time? And I heard Napoleon really wasn't small but actually average. Yup, nobody even in the modern world like Arnold, and nowadays in body building some of the men are pushing 300 stage weight. I think it's the legs and butt muscles, as they look like bees that gathered a huge load of pollen back to the hive. Arnold had an amazing waist to arm to shoulder symmetry, but his legs were nothing like today. Lou Ferrigno was a pretty amazing body builder, and you have to give it up for the taller dudes because so much harder to put the beef on the frame to compete with the shorter lads.

Looks to be only a few inches off of todays average, assuming the population gets adequate nutrition.

Honestly, that's my favorite of the lot of them and I don't care who knows it! If I'm up on my SW knowledge then the fourth episode was the first one filmed and created the phenomena. In that case there are MANY who agree with you. Yes.

Same with the Punisher. Thomas Jane and Jon Bernthal don't seem real "punishing" to me. Dolph Lundgren and Ray Stevenson are more like my image of the Punisher. However, most people I've talked to prefer the movie with Jane and the series with Bernthal. I think Stevenson's portrayal is pretty accurate to the character in the comic.
My favorite Marvel character brought to the screen (by far) is Blade. I love all three movies. Wesley Snipes made that character for me. I was not fond of the character as a kid. Snipes ran with that character and I became a huge fan. As a kid, my favorite Marvel "superhero" was Spider man. I really haven't cared for any of the Peter Parker actors until this recent portrayal by Tom Holland. I think he nails the teenage angst that permeated the character in the comic. I like the other movies, I just like this version better.
I would love a new Blade movie and I hear that one is in the works. I will miss Snipes on the screen, but I also think Mahershala Ali is an awesome actor. I'm looking forward to seeing how he brings new life into my favorite character.

I agree entirely about Tom Holland. He's exactly how I remember him from the comics, cartoons and video games. I was big into spiderman as a kid. Toby McGuire ruined it for me lmao. I didn't even bother with Andrew Garfield, though he kinda looked the part, even if a bit old for the role. Tom Holland brought back my love for the show. I am so disappointed he's unlikely to share a screen with Deadpool in the future. That would have been incredible, with Ryan Reynolds interpretation
