Hello all Not sure where I should post this since it is maintenance related somewhat. Anyway, has anyone used "gun socks" for storing swords? If you are not familiar with these, they are like really long wool socks (54"). They have silicone in the fabric and other material that protect the item inside from moisture as well as shocks. They are pretty cheap in most cases. Just thinking that could help in some cases. Wide Holts would be an issue

Haven’t used them even for my guns but should work since your protecting swords from the same thing you’re protecting guns from, rust. I know people that use them and seem to work fine. Still want to oil them first. And if you only have katana, Jian and such you don’t have to worry about wide hilts or holts. Sorry couldn’t resist😏.

Those borestores socks look pretty good and to the op’s concern about hilts they say they can do custom bags. As far as differences it’s just like everything else I guess. Some products are better than others. Hope the rust on your blade wasn’t to bad.

Yep I have a couple swords currently resting in cheapy gunsocks and when I transport more swords than what my actual sword bag will carry I'll use a soft riflecase. (by car not plane - Hard sided case for plane travel)

ok for dry environment but any humid spot will cause the sock to wick moisture. They breathe and will suck humidity out of the air. Check frequently.
