Hello everyone, I'm new to swords so please excuse my lack of knowledge. Anyhow, i was cleaning out a relatives house and came up with the sword in the photo. From what I gather it's from the mid 1700s Basket hilted Scottish? broadsword. It is complete with the scabbard (which is also 100% intact) and the engravings on the sword seem to show almost no wear. It's even still sharp enough to cut! Does anyone have any more information or feedback on this piece (more specific details or what it might be worth)? More photos here: ibb.co/album/eUuRaaThanks in advance for any assistance! Lucky find. GET OIL ON IT NOW. Also there are oils/greases for leather that need applying. After that you can decide on a course of action.

Frog lube on the blade and hilt, saddle soap on the leather. That's, I believe, King George III's cipher on the blade. That gives you it's date range - 1760 - 1820. Beautiful find. Feel free to let me know if it needs a forever home < whistles innocently >
