Pics to come soon.
I wish I could design swords for a living
Something I've had in mind for over a year. I've never seen a hand and a half khukuri sword. So i consider this a fantasy sword. I guess I had imagined a darksword armory fantasy sword when i was giving them the extra specs on size and everything. With the mirror polish, flexibility, hard edge and steel characteristics in general. It reminds me alot of newer 5160 darksword armory swords.
So I when I imagined a practical sword in a post apocalyptic alternate reality, I imagined a khukuri for utilitarian purposes. I love the utilitarian look and characteristics of a khukuri. I imagined a green beret in the jungles of south america, and in the mountains of the hindu kush. I figured if they had no firearms, and only one blade for combat and utility, the echo predator would be the ultimate weapon for a green beret without a firearm stranded in the harsh environments of jungles/ mountains etc. I imagined a green beret fighting in a melee type environment that was typical of medieval European battles.
I wanted a 21st century/beyond/medieval blade fit for the most elite warrior
I wanted a badass utilitarian beast with blade presence, while maintaining the elegant characteristics of a sub 3lb european hand and a half sword.
Khhi did it.
Eat your heart out mr. Lake. He designed a sweet kukri, no doubt about it. I only feel I added to it, and made it that much more unique and awesome. I'm full of myself
Khhi is awesome for working with me on this
It took maybe a little over a month to get to me, but it was so worth it.
The echo predator was all that and more. I seen that backup knife and the overall look of this entire piece scabbard/sword/backup knife and all fit this absurd vision of mine with the green beret. So When I seen this design, I had to have it. When I seen that it was available to customize, I knew I had to make this vision of mine come to life. It sounded impractical when I was giving the specs to khhi through email. I originally wanted 26 inch blade, 14 inch handle, 8mm thick-3mm thick but that was too large and exceeded my strict weight specifications of 3lb 1 oz or less. Khhi worked with me on it, and I wasnt sure if they understood what I was looking for, saroj assured me he completely understood what I was looking for. So we compromised on a 23 1/2/24 inch blade 2 inches wide, 7mm-3mm thick, with a 12 inch handle
I gotta say they freaking nailed it. Dude this thing is practically a dream sword of mine that came to fruition.
full size backup knife is very well made, very sharp, I use it all the time to open packages and stuff lol.
It doesnt have as hard of an edge as my darksword armory swords the last 2 years but still very hard and edge retention is still superb. It came with more of a "tool" edge. Bevel was grinded to more of a wedge shape that was really good for chopping wood actually. I had to sharpen it up though to get the combat edge I was looking for. Idk what people prefer but for this particular project of mine/khhi, i wanted a thinner "combat edge". I of course am sacrificing wear resistance by sharpening it but I dont plan on chopping a bunch of wood with this anytime soon so I wanted it to slice through tatami and water gallons like a laser. It can still cut deep into wood just fine without chipping or rolling. I'll make a 2nd showing off blades versatility video to prove it.
Rockwell Hardness I think is 55-57 Hrc
Me cutting with my semi custom khhi echo predator "bastard khukuri"
Daniel murray lake designed the khukuri. It's available in semi custom form. You can change pretty much almost anything you want.
So I filled out semi customization form and also sent them multiple emails with additional specs that werent available on the semi custom form
I increased width by almost an entire inch
Blade is 1 1/2' inch wide near the crossguard. Tapers out to 2 inches, then tapers out to 2 1/4 inches wide before the center of percussion. Its 2 3/16' wide at center of percussion. They made it even wider than I asked, which was a pleasant surprise. Awesome blade.
The price of standard version is 227 I believe
I increased the Cost by 60-80 dollars with my specs. It cost 285.00 plus like 70 shipping
Total cost-355.00
Standard version daniel murray lake designed has 7 1/2 inch handle, 17 inch blade. I love the standard specs but I wanted something very specific. I wanted a sub 3lb hand and a half kukri sword with the blade presence of a m4d grosse messer. I didnt want a 2 handed machete, i didnt want a skinny siru sword, I wanted something as big and agile as a European bastard sword with the blade presence of a grosse messer. I wanted it to be at least 2 inches at the center of percussion. I wanted as much mass as possible at c.o.p to maximize its cutting abilities, and give it a very impressive look. I wanted it to be a big bastard khukuri that was no more than 3lb 1 oz at the most also. They did A fantastic job. Its 2 lbs 13 oz./3 lb 1 oz
It has a very low point of balance at 2 3/8 inches from the crossguard. 2 1/8' from the iron fitting just below the ricasso. It handles like a dream. Very light yet big enough to wield as a european hand and a half sword.
My custom specs- special forces airborne badge glued to the scabbard frog. I love that badge and the way it looks with this scabbard. I figured this sword was perfect for my dads special forces airborne badge
Blade length of 23 inches; 7mm thick at bolster and 3 mm near tip (taper)
- Nozzle in Ricasso (I want my finger to be able to grip ricasso)
- Handle length around 11-12 inches (wood only)
- Iron Fixture and well polished
- Blade and handle mirror polished
- Black frog, black leather, metal tip, with the default accompanying backup knives
- 1360 to 1505 gms (blade + handle)
[I want it to be 2 handed but light enough be wielded like hand and a half sword
also is it possible to make this khukuri 2 inches wide near center of percussion? While keeping 11.5- 12 inch handle, and 23-24 inch blade
What's the widest you think we can get this khukuri while maintaining its weight and balance?
Khhi- The width of the percussion is also well noted and wud be done. We will do the sweet spot at least 2” wide.

"Echo"- the predator sword khukuri, is a true east meets west blade. Designed by Daniel Murray-Lake to be a savage bush blade and a brutal weapon, when needed.
The primary focus with Echo is in being a powerful and durable bush blade, capable of felling small trees, splitting them down and processing for either firewood or shelter. Capable of battoning and digging when required.
The extra long full tang handle featuring Daniel's solar wheel cross keeper plate allows for one or two handed operation allowing the user a larger variety of grips and access to both power and control as needed depending on what the task requires.
As the main blade is quite large, a smaller blade was needed to allow for the finer utility work. The Karda is perfect for carving, meal preparation and other utility tasks. A Chakmak was fashioned out of a file for honing both the main blade and the Karda and also for fire making by striking flint or quartz along it's spine for sparks.
Finally, an outstanding feature of this design is it's Ambidextrous sheath. This allows for left or right handed carry and also for ambidextrous back carry with the optional accessory.
Whether in the forest, Jungle, mountains or combat, Echo is prepared for them all as a complete and functional package.
