This is a hanwei dark sentinel that I customized and renamed "sabertooth" kriegszabel/warsaber, not like the tiger sabretooth but like the sword with the word tooth added to the end-" sabertooth"
I removed the end cap and the(in my opinion) ugly and corny studded suede grip. I did a cotton twine underwrap around the wooden core, then wrapped the handle in veg tanned kangaroo hide. Poked holes for the rivets through the tang. and did an outer wrap for a chord wrapped grip. I added acryllic finish/leather sheen to condition and add wear and water resistance, and also give the leather a nice texture and shine it up a little bit. It didnt condition the leather as well as I'd like so I decided to dye the predyed kangaroo hide. It was a semprini, It was my first time dyeing something and it sucked trying to get the handle to a consistent black, but i at least got it more consistent than it was, and after I redyed with oil dye, I added another coat of leather sheen, and the grip actually feels really good, and I got it to feel the way I wanted it to feel, and for the most part I got it to look the way I wanted it to look. Theres minor inconsistencies in the color but overall I think it looks great, looks slot better than the stock grip and pommel. I cut about a half inch or so off the end of the handle
also reshaped and tapered the handle just a little bit near the end to fit the new silver/nickel alloy floral pommel. After I removed end cap, and cut a half inch off of the end of handle, the p.o.b moved up to 4 3/4' but once I fit the pommel on with 2 part steel reinforced epoxy, the p.o.b actually went back down to 4 3/8 inches, so my p.o.b is actually 1/8 inch lower than stock p.o.b
I also sharpened the hell out of the blade because the stock edge was only moderately sharp so this is sharper than anything that's available right now.
Great cutting blade, very agile, and beautifully balanced and very lightweight.
A sub 3 lb bastard saber with. P.o.b of 4 3/8 inches. The thing is so much fun and I hate to sell it. I really dont wanna sell this at all. This is a pretty big sacrifice for me. Alot of work went into it. 17 dollars for the pommel, 25 dollars for the kangaroo hide, 5 dollars for the twine, plus all the other materials and tools needed to customize it. I actually had to buy a new dremel 3000 just to finish this sword. I had to grind out the pommel a little bit to fit it onto the wood and I did that with the dremel. I filed and tapered the wooden handle by hand with a file. Hope you guys like it as much as I do
