The last one: The mouth piece is missing from the scabbard. For me this is a defenitive reason not to buy it. The M1845 Superior Officer sabre with dedication I contemplated buying yesterday but the price put me off since I already have one. This sword has the first generation blade with the nice strong round start of the fullers. Very nice indeed, though I could not read the inscription. The P1796 LC sabre is good, but the scabbard is f*cked, so I would not buy it for that reason alone. Also these sabres are in the realm of etherial icons of god like fetish, so way over priced in general for what they really are. I see the Bluchers going the same way, but with the Blucher one at least gets a quality made sabre. Wait with this one. There are better around. The small sword: Restauration. Probably Superior Officer, but I cannot find this particular symbolism. Nice, but nothing exiting. Also the scabbard is missing. Should not cost too much.
The ANXIII LC Officer ,, a la Chasseur'' was made in Solingen. They made them up until the 1850's. It has no scabbard. Never buy a sabre without scabbard. Only if it is super special, which this one aint.
All in all you seem to have the shopping fever. I know the feeling, but I strongly suggest sitting it out and leaving well alone. The only one I could really stand behind is the M1845 with the dedication. Now that one is unique and a good sword. It has the right sword knot too, so the package is complete. Qua price: Always try to get some off, but do not be unreasonable. I sometimes settle for the price asked, but have the shipping included. Get you some books too. I have ,,Les Epees'' and ,, Les Sabres'' and ,, Les Armes Blaches'' by l'Hoste. Not very expensive and covering a lot of what you'll need in the shark tank also known as the sabre collecting universe. Go for the M1845 and leave the rest. Tomorrow is another day. A good method to overcome the impulse buy and greed based decisions: sleep on it. Most of the times, the other day you'll have cooled off and see things very differently.

A half basket, "P" knuckle bow saber. From Liege (Dutch until 1840).
There are all sorts of knuckle bowed Ps for German and Polish states. No half baskets.
Leaves private service saber or small German states that I'l not sifting thru Blankwaffen hoping to get lucky. Condition of the saber is worth 1200.00, but is condition of the blade is unknown.
I like doing biz with the RM gallery, but the first sword I bought was a French ANXII Cuirassier pallasche. When it arrived it was determined to be an India replica which I was not going to get stuck for 1300.00. He took it back. (got the coffin handled Hussar saber in it's place).
The french styled gothic handled 1845 with the pallasche blade is a Belgian Dragoon saber. First one I ever saw was being sold as a civil war confederate sword.
I'd of bought it, but....
Cheers!

Please post wherever you feel appropriate. I’m just looking forward to watching your collection grow. Such beautiful pieces are out of my league, so I really enjoy it when more serious collectors share their thoughts, and maybe a few photos, of such fantastic acquisitions. Cheers!

Looking better, glad to see that you are using a mild solvent and not an abrasive. I like spadroons. Are you planning on rewrapping?

Dave Kelly I've been watching that one for a while. Hell of a lot to ask for an unknown rusty. Edit: I keep accidentally tagging "@ kelly" in posts, and I always end up tagging "Psycho V".

Those kind of hearken back to the 1788 Rumford hilts. It's that "p" knuckle bow that has driven me crazy. All kinds of simple hand guards with a "p". But scarely any on a half basket guard.
