I've read but not commented on a lot of threads recently bemoaning the reduced activity on the forum and harkening back to a golden age where people eagerly sought out suprisingly good budget blades rather than jumping straight to premium and customs buys.
Soooooo why don't we just go back to that? Drum up a little enthusiasm for what used to be a pillar of this community rather than just missing it.
I'd like to challenge you all to buy, post about, review and otherwise create interest in any sub $400 sword/mace/axe that catches your interest by the new year.

This is an interesting topic. On a related tangent, I wonder if the availability of firearms in the $400+ realm affect pricier blade purchases, or do they counterintuitively enhance sales, as I believe people who like blades also like firearms? Of course, factoring in the price of ammo does change the economic equation, assuming one realizes this. One can still buy pretty effective blades of all different sizes for well under $200, but a real junker of a firearm in that price range.

I've been eyeing the Red Dragon Euro swords (they probably are Balaur Arms swords that are sold in Europe under a different name, as it was suggested by SBG member earlier that they are from Balaur).

I want the Windlass Blacksword and German falchion, as well as a RK Euro, will get one or 2 of these in the coming months.
Got a 300$ Tsunami-Dragon kat a few months ago, I am remiss for not doing a review yet, will do so soon.

I keep forgetting there's a whole website, even a store, outside of the forum.
Never really used either, but they do exist.

This is a great idea Elb. If I didn't have so many expensive hobbies outside swords and didn't have 8 years of college on the way in January I'd buy more budget swords and review them.

An excellent idea. I'll be doing first impressions over a bunch of windlass swords I should receive tomorrow, and over the next few months put together an initial review and test for each of them.

More DSA threads with flame wars. More katana vs. longsword threads with flame wars. More gun crime vs banning threads with flame wars. More flame wars with flame wars. Perhaps we need Holg back? Oops, have to reread the cynizism thread...
Elbrit is right, we should see what we can make better. But my flame wars idea at least made me think of the emotional input besides old fart cynizism.

Glad people are excited. I just shelled out a bunch of money for renfair garb so I'll need at least a month to reset my finances, but after that I want a cross hilt saber. Maybe the Del Tin 15th century, maybe Universal's Scimitar, maybe even empire costumes absurdly curved shamshir.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm a "common" K frame .357 for howler and in that vein something in an H&R .32 S&W
Or maybe the $500 walloon
Or that certain Del Tin
Or ummmm a karabela
My binging days are past me and it is just one more I really want. Yet, those sub $300 goodies occupy a lot of my window shopping while sailing around hunting raptors.
Cheers GC

I'm always game for a forum revitalization! Sometimes all it takes is a kick in the right direction and things become fresh and fun.
As far as the thread idea goes, I have some plans for my own collection and of course reviews abound both video and written. If some of you haven't seen the thread I've been doing re-reviews of my collection on my Youtube channel so if you want to see some old favorites and see how they've held up over time check out the reviews!
The next video I'm posting is on my Windlass Hero's Warsword and the next on my to buy list is the Windlass Arbedo.

I'm working on a DSA review, and I should have a Tod Cutler Antenna dagger showing up in the mail in about an hour or so.
