I bought a Cold Steel Chinese War Sword Machete and didn’t like the way it handled. So it got mounted on an ash pole, around 7 foot overall. Wasn’t too happy with that either, shortened it to around 5 foot overall and that didn’t keep me happy for long also. So what I ended up with is a one-handed CWSM which I’m actually quite fond of. It certainly feels powerful in the hand, chops very well and is durable (tested on a 2x4).
The handle is ash, fastened with two wooden pegs and epoxy. The machete is 75,5 cm overall, weighs 962 g and has a pob of 22,1 cm. The handle still needs to get painted and wrapped.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

That's pretty freakin' cool! I almost ordered one of those just the other day...just to have something different in my collection. I may get one yet. That or the Thai machete..... .

There are a couple of the older Condor "swords" that I have considered buying just to turn into polearms. I'm a proponent of modding and upcycling.

Having something „different“ was exactly the reason why I got the CWSM. And it’s a real beast now. Totally different than with the longer two-handed grip/shafts. Gotta say the Thai Machete has something to it, too (never handled one, though).

I guess a thicker/stiffer blade would have done better as a polearm than my “CS franken pu-dao”, which just felt a bit too whippy. No clue of Chinese weapons in general, so I may all be wrong. With the short grip, the CS CWSM's blade feels awesome.

I'm just moulinetting with mine to imagine the one handed grip feeling... I can imagine ...It’s feels really different now (than one-handed with the long grip), really trenchant.
