imgur.com/a/WH3eYohThis is a cold steel maa grosse messer I customized. Probably selling too, idk yet, this was one of my first swords I ever owned, and it's pretty sentimental I call this old faithful. have used this blade alot for cutting, its personally one of my favorite sub 200 dollar cutting swords. I think I got lucky with this one because i have yet to have problems loosened fittings with this particular cold steel maa grosse messer. I know by experience that the c.steel grosse messers have that problem alot, but this blade has held up very well for last 2 years Anyway so I scrubbed fading black finish off of blade, guard, and pommel. I plan to give a higher polish to the blade, and I also plan to remove the black finish from the scabbard fittings as well. But this is what I got. M For the grip, I used my personal favorite grade a black veg tanned goathide. I used this same leather for the thai machete, and my everest blades 2 handed khukuri machete that I sold. If your wondering why the finish on this leather wrap is so shiny compared to the thai machete, its because I used a different type of chord for the chord wrap. I did that on purpose. I have plenty of cotton twine left but I chose to go with the polypropylene household twine to shine up the leather and to also have smaller chord impressions than the cotton twine would give me. I used 4 risers for the handle. When I wrapped my first c.steel g.messer I did 3 risers and it was perfect, did multiple one handed and 2 handed grips to come up with the placement of risers on the first one, and I I repeated pretty much the same exact thing for this messer, except I added 1 more in the middle for aesthetic purposes, since the middle riser isnt as useful as the top and the bottom because who grips the middle of the handle when using it? But yeah new high polish on blade, guard, and pommel. Grip goathide chord wrapped grip with risers and a shiny polypropylene finish on the leather. I use sheen on it too, that shines it up even more and protects the leather from water, and other corrosive environmental elements. Opinions?

I really like the leather wrap. It's well done and I much prefer goatskin over veg tan. It also looks really comfortable in the hand, yet also tactile. Good job!

thank you for that. I really appreciate it. I worked hard on it. Comfortable and tactile was like exactly what I was going for with the grip. It is very comfortable, and I did the best I could to make sure the risers were perfectly placed.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I love this c.steel messer. Especially with the new finish and the wrap. It's a beast when cutting though and it can take tremendous amounts of abuse. I got more that I'm gonna be posting soon too. If I could just make sales like I used to back in Feb-may, then I could get a couple more projects done, and list and sell those too. I have to buy new hanwei bastard blade so I can finish that sword. I also need a threading tool to fix the tang I broke on my other hanwei bastard sword. All I have to do is regrind the tang, and rethread it, cut handle, add fittings and bam I have a customized hanwei bastard blade But the 160 dollat fittings I have currently are being saved for when i buy a replacement hanwei bastard sword. I'll buy cheaper fittings for the blade that i snapped the threads off of. I'll be selling one customized hanwei h/t bastard sword And also one customized hanwei t/p bastard sword that has just a little shorter of a handle than the standard hanwei tinker Pearce bastard I just posted windlass hero warsword in classifieds. That has a burgandy/maroon veg tanned lambhide chord wrapped grip on it. Its pretty nice, but some minor flaws in that wrap because I had a fever and bodyaches coming on last night as I was finishing it. Still though I like it. I'll probably post it in here too, but I wanted to put a demiscabbard on it before I listed it, but cant afford the wood I need for it, so I dont think I will get to add a demiscabbard onto it before it sells unfortunately.
