I'm not one to say it... but looks poor to me. Steel and zinc handle makes me feel a ill balanced toy.

The blade thickness is 2mm too thick. 1060 is on the lower end of high carbon steels for a sword of this type. The length is ok. The width puts it between a Fulham and a Mainz.
Overall length is about 3" too long which leads me to believe that the length of the grip is also too long.
My concerns with 1060 is that is is on the soft side. 1075 - 1095 is a better steel for a gladius. 1075 I would recommend. They may be making up for the type of carbon steel by making the blade 2 mm thicker. But thicker means heavier. You wouldn't think that 2mm would be too much, but that is 1/2 lbs. to 1 lbs. depending on distal tapering or not. If the hilt is made of steel and zinc... I guarantee this sword weighs 3+ pounds.
Shape of the blade is very nice, probably one of the better shapes for a blade in this price range. The Scabbard is what it is.

I suspect the steel hilt components are hollow, likely pressed from thin sheet metal judging by the way the edges look, and seriously doubt whether that and "zinc alloy" decorations have the structural integrity to withstand actual use. Plus what rhema1313 said. Pity, it does looks nice from a distance. The blade and scabbard core might be worth it for a project? (Sure, 1060 isn't as hard as some modern steels but it's still well within historical parameters, and also makes filing off the excess material a little easier.  ) |

Jordan Williams... Yes I still make Swords, Pugiones, and Scabbards. I specialize currently in 1st Century Roman Gladii. Mainz, Fulham, Herculaneum, Pompeii, Spatha and Parazonium swords. Currently I also make a 120BC Hispaniensis and am researching 2-4th Century Spatha. I am sorry guys... with life being what it is... I haven't had the time to put up a website. Between life as it happens and the business of making swords... word of mouth and Facebook have kept me busy. I make everything right here in my shop. I make swords for Museums, Archeologists, Historians, Reenactors, Corporate and Private collections. I am known for Historical Accuracy as each step of the way, research has been 85% of what I do. I am not perfect or a master at it yet, but that is part of the Historical Accuracy part of it all. There may be a slight flaw here and there that gives each piece character. Everything is hand made here in my shop. I do all of the work myself. For scabbards, I do brass, Bronze, Silver and Gold castings in the lost wax casting process. It feels quite good in hand, blade is nice; but be prepared for the segmented grip to do rattle-doodle-battle after cutting. You may have to tighten that up then and again, or epoxy the hell out of it for good. Bang-for-buck is great. Was going under "Valiant Armoury" here in Germany until i gave the vendor a short notice; well he didnt believe and kept on selling it this way. Eventually i informed Sonny Suttles... Now it still sells as "Praetorian" here, but no longer under "VA" brand... Unfortunately I'm an edge-perfectionist. Also one wrong move when unsheathing and the throat nicks the edge on either side.
