So I couldn’t find any previous thread about this, and was wondering people’s opinions on this. What are some of your favorite fantasy armor designs from any visual medium? You can list multiple examples if you want. For me, my favorite fantasy armor design is the Telmarine armor from the Prince Caspian movie. It looks cool and isn’t that impractical looking from what little I know about armor.

The Faraam set from the Dark Souls franchise is my #1 favorite: Also a pretty big fan of the Knight Armor mod for Skyrim's Ebony Armor (can't stand the stuff, otherwise):

Love all of those. That armstreet set is awesome female fantasy armor. I think most of our favorites are our favorites because they are both cook and functional as far as fantasy armor goes.

I'm not in to fantasy movies, swords, or armor in the strictest sense. I enjoy some fantasy movies, but like them better when they stick to a more historical look (half of LOTR, for example). Not sure it qualifies, but I enjoy the armor and sword used in 1991's "Bram Stoker's Dracula." Its fantastical to a degree, but one could also say its slightly rooted in historical, fluted plate armor from the late 15th--16th Centuries, give or take. The sword they used was a slightly modified Del Tin 2140, from what I've read. Also a nice touch, imo.

Does Star Wars count as fantasy? I like the idea of the stormtroopers armor. Light plastic plate over a cut resistant mail-like suit. Add some kind of cooling. Not that at any time such an armor did protect better than a cool leather jacket in tv/movies but that is true for any kind of armor there.

That movie had some incredible visuals for sure. The werewolf form in the graveyard scene to the transformation in the bedroom just magnificent choice of special effects and aesthetics. Nternal, its been a while since I've seen the movie, so I'm drawing a blank on the scene you mention. The three scenes that really stood out to me were the intro to Medieval Dracula showing the shadows of him fighting, his first meeting with Jonathan Harker where Drac is doing one thing but his shadow is doing another, and the scene where Drac confronts our heroes in the insane asylum. He's in half human/half vampire mode, and when they shove crucifixes in his face, he retreats in to a closet. All goes dark as he shuts the door. They open it again, and he turns in to rats as the lights go back on. As you said, nice special effects there. I've always loved Winona Ryder. An unknown (at least to me) Monica Bellucci was in the movie. The whole thing had an interesting atmosphere that some people might call "Steam Punkish." Some parts of the film are silly, but overall, its pretty darn good.

Guts's Berserker plate is probably my favorite fantasy armor.

I will third "Bram Stoker's Dracula." THAT is how you do good fantasy armor. Both functional and in furtherance of the character.

The bat ears would be great for channeling trauma into your brain, but why bother when you could fit your whole fist through the eye-holes. The faulds look weird too. I kid...but really that helmet...smh....

Meet Col. Esad Foad. Now where's that grizzly from the other thread? Maybe in about 50 years power armor won't be a fiction...maybe.
