Specifically speaking, lots of heroism in keeping the tragedy from being even worse. Many issues at play when these incidents occur, tragic loss, mental illness, gun control (pro & con), nihilistic detachment of society in internet age, good and evil, etc...no easy solutions. There absolutely was, I was just reading about a person who got some folks tucked away and instead of staying put with them went back out to see if anyone else needed help. A shame for anyone to be hurt or killed, especially the kind of person who tries to put the well being of others first. Very sad. Also sad to see worries about the kinds of toys one can buy being a pressing concern, and worries about how an inanimate object is being portrayed in the face of actual human suffering. These are simply different topics of discussion and not to be judged against each other. Personal defense (common British law right of man) and the 2nd Amendment can be and indeed are always a most pressing concern. Whether viewed as tool or toy, stopping a would be home invader(s) or potential future tyrannical govt. entity, these inanimate objects can have a very positive affect in lessening human suffering. Sadly, the REAL issue (see Chicago) is gangs.

You know...we're not the only group of folks saying the world is going down hill... I mean, Rome, Pretty much any generation in America since we've had new papers...Medieval Europe...pick your age, I mean the list goes on. I think we like to complain personally. *shakes fist at whipper-snappers* Yes, the violent crime rate has actually gone way down in the last 20 years. Seems to be human nature to think the end is neigh.
