Here I've gone and done it again. I've decided to do three parts of this mini-series- the second part about the details of what is happening with the right hand. The third part will be the dynamics of a strike. All the rest that happens after that I will leave up to individual schools of training. i have my methods, others have theirs. All of them are good if it works. And knowing that there is a close to zero chance of any of us getting into a real sword fight, it's all an academic exercise at the end of the day anyways.
Sorry about the close-ups. I've been told I have a face for radio and a voice for newsprint.

Ah more advanced and closer to how I was taught. I know, there are several schools and I am by no means saying my school taught the correct way and only way it should be done. I recognized and fully accept variations. Good video. In this one you talk about the pivoting, an important fact, whereas in the first it appears you hand is jammed against the tsuba. Thanks. Keep them coming.

Excellently done! I really liked the use of tape on the hands and handle to give a good visual cue, that was very smart. Great description of the pivot points and how to grip, definitely fixed my conceptual contentions with the previous video in spades. A truly nicely done description.

I neglected to say in my earlier post in Part 2 about the small gap between hand and tsuba. I am glade that you explained the purpose. I did it only because that was the way I was taught and it felt “right”. I had no idea of the purpose.
