I don't think there's a German named analogue to Suihei, as such - that's just a horizontal cut. Mittelhau. It's not in the earlier German sources, but it turns up in e.g. Meyer.

Errol Flynn and Bob Anderson know about leg injuries. When Bob Anderson was training Errol Flynn for one of his swashbuckler movies Errol Flynn messed up causing Bob Anderson to stab him in the leg. 😹😹😹😹
Errol Flynn did say that he was the one who messed up. He took responsibility which is admirable of him. I think that most Hollywood celebrities today would have blamed Bob Anderson.

Errol Flynn is my man, he and John Wynne. And ya, the Hollywood people today lack the class the old stars had, by a mile.

Back in those days it wasn't unusual for stuntmen to be killed or seriously injured on set, and it also wasn't unusual for a star to do low level stunts themselves. Naturally, the more dangerous stuff would be done by a stuntman, but for the most part actors took pride in doing things themselves.
And a thigh scar from a sword fight is a feather in the cap at the local pub. Good for impressing the ladies....

Luckily, it's my responsibility to move out of the way.

The lady that played Valeria had gotten ome of her fingers cut real bad. In fact it almost got severed.

The first rule of knife fighting is "expect to be cut".
Anytime you start swinging swords or sticks or whatever at another person there is a chance for injury. It's important to follow safety rules and wear the proper gear. While it's not 100% effective, it will significantly reduce the potential for injuries. But even so, things can go wrong. With that in mind, you should be mature enough to understand the risk and make a decision to engage in the activity based on whether or not you want to accept the risk.

My personal first rule of knife fighting is "run away." Yeah, that's probably the best and most practical approach to knife fighting technique. Run until you are out of danger or can't run anymore- then fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain....

If other options aren't on the table like "negotiate a peaceful settlement" or "bring a gun," then go at 'em hard and fast.
